Twelve swimmers for the Bartlett Xtreme Swim Team traveled to Huntsville, Ala., to compete in the Long Course Southeastern Championships on July 20-23. The competition included several hundred swimmers from across the states of Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. Despite a relatively small group, the swimmers placed 30th out of over 50 teams.
Highlighting the weekend were the performances of Beau Broussard, 14, who finished first in the 13/14 year old boys 100 and 200 meter backstroke events. With his performances, Broussard qualified for the Southeastern All-Star Team, which competes at the Southern Zone Age Group Championships in Tupelo, Aug.1-5, against swimmers from the southeastern quarter of the United States. Beau’s times in the 100 and 200 rank in the top 25 nationally in his age group.
