Oct. 28
Kroctoberfest in Memphis: Join in an evening of fall fun with costume parades, carnival-style games, crafts, and trick-or-treating Oct. 28 at the Kroc Center Memphis (800 E. Parkway, Memphis). The free Kroctoberfest Fall Fun Bash is designed for children ages 5-12 accompanied by a parent or adult guardian, and activities will be 5-7 p.m. Join the Kroc that Friday and receive half off the usual registration fee.
BRC’s Halloween fun: The Bartlett Recreation Center will host its annual Halloween Family Fun Fest 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28 with games, candy, music and fun. Kids and adults are invited to come in their best costumes and have a safe night of trick-or-treating at the BRC. Sign up to compete in the costume contest or the pumpkin carving contest. “Best Costume” prizes will be awarded in the categories of Best Family Theme and Best Individual Costume (ages 4 and under, 5-8, and 9-12). There is a $2 late fee for registration after Oct. 26. Admission is $3 per child for BRC members or $5 per child for non-members.
Free movie in Bartlett park: On Friday, Oct. 28, Bartlett Movies in the Park will present “Hotel Transylvania 2” at W.J. Freeman Park. The free family-friendly movie will start around dark, but come early to picnic and play with your family before the show starts.
Posh cemetery party in Memphis: “Spirits with the Spirits,” a party benefiting Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis, will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 28. Admission is $70 per person or $125 per couple. This is a “rain or shine” event, and tickets are non-refundable. Dress is black-and-white casual, and costumes and characters will be most welcome. The cemetery is at 824 S. Dudley St., Memphis. Heartsong Church’s Halloween Hollow: The whole family is invited to join in the spooky fun of Halloween Hollow, 2-5 p.m. Oct. 29, at Heartsong United Methodist Church, 800 N. Houston Levee Road, Cordova. Events include train rides, hayrides, carnival games, S’mores and the wooded Trick-or Treat trail. New this year for the older children is Zombie Target Practice with paintball guns. Food trucks will be on site as well. Eastside Baptist’s Fall Festival: The Eastside Baptist Church at 3232 Covington Pike, Memphis, is hosting a free Fall Festival 2-5 p.m. Oct. 29.
Advent’s Fallapalooza: Advent Presbyterian Church will host its annual Fallapalooza 4-6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 with games for all ages, live music, a petting zoo, hay rides, hot dogs, a moon bounce, face painting, and lots of candy. Family-friendly costumes are welcomed. The church is at 1879 N. Germantown Parkway, Cordova.
Immanuel Lutheran’s Trunk or Treat: Immanuel Lutheran Church at 6325 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, will be hosting a Trunk or Treat 4-6 p.m. Oct. 29 All are welcome, and everything is free.
Bartlett Woods’ Fall Festival: The Bartlett Woods Church of Christ invites the public to attend its Fall Festival 4:30-6 p.m. Oct. 29 with games, a cake walk, an obstacle course, a chili cook-off, a costume contest, hotdogs and cotton candy. A Trunk or Treat will follow in the parking lot at 6 p.m. All are welcome to the free festivities. The church is located at 7900 Old Brownsville Rd, Arlington.
Arlington UMC’s Trunk-or-Treat: A Trunk-or-Treat will be hosted by Arlington United Methodist Church (6145 Quintard St., Arlington) 7-8 p.m. Oct. 29 in the church parking lot.
Oct. 30
Lakeland’s Halloween Festival: Families are invited to this year’s free Lakeland Halloween Festival, which will be 1-4 p.m. Oct. 30 at I.H. Park (4527 Canada Road). Vendors will be on hand to promote their business or organization and will be giving out treats and goodies. Lakeland’s Great Pumpkin Patch will be filled with approximately 200 pumpkins for the picking. Once they pick out their favorite pumpkin, they can take it to one of the decorating tables to personalize and take home. Activities will include giant obstacle inflatables, trick-or-treating, face painting, photos with costumed characters, crafts and games. Contests will include a Costume Contest at 1:30 p.m. (including a Family Costume category), the Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest at 2:30 p.m., and the Pumpkin Pre-Carved Contest at 3 p.m. The event will have an abundance of prizes because of generous donations by Auto Zone, Jumping World, the Children’s Museum of Memphis, Memphis Incredible Pizza, Memphis Zoo, Cordova Bowling Center, Shelby Farm’s Starry Nights, River City Escapes, and more.
BCCB’s Halloween Concert: The Bartlett Community Concert Band will perform its 2016 Halloween Concert at 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference Center, 3663 Appling Road, Bartlett. Tickets are $7, and children younger than 6 will be admitted free. Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes, and candy will be provided for all the attending children. BUMC’s carnival: The Bartlett United Methodist Church will host an afternoon and evening of fun fall events starting at 4 p.m. Oct. 30. It begins with a pumpkin painting 4-5 p.m.; bring your own pumpkin, and BUMC will provide the art supplies. The carnival will be 5-7 p.m. with free games and a costume contest. The trunk-or-treat starts at 6:40 p.m. The church is at 5676 Stage Road, Bartlett.
Trafalgar Village Baptist’s event: The public is invited to Trafalgar Village Baptist Church’s free Trunk or Treat 6-8:30 p.m. at the church, 6161 Summer Ave., Memphis. The event will include food, face painting, a bounce house and hay rides.
