The Bartlett Police Department (BPD) reported the following incidents for the week of Sept. 8-14.
Editor’s note: All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of more detailed BPD reports.
Sept. 8
- Stage Hills Boulevard (vandalism): Responded at 7:49 a.m. Sept. 8 to the 8000 block of Stage Hills Boulevard regarding a vandalism complaint. The complainant said someone had driven over the complex’s back lawn, severely damagingt he grass and possibly the irrigation system. She provided a surveillance video from 9:27 p.m. Sept. 7, showing a dark Jeep Wrangler with a soft top driving through the woods in the rear of the complex and onto the back lawn. The Jeep drove in circles several times on the lawn, leaving deep ruts and risking damage to the buried irrigation system. Around 9:33 p.m., a white male suspect wearing a ball cap, T-shirt and khaki shorts exited the vehicle and took ictures of the damage with his cellphone.
- Chaucer Road (burglary): Responded around 10:30 a.m. Sept. 8 to Chaucer Road regarding a burglary complaint at a vacant house. The responding officer confirmed that the bottom glass window pane of the wooden carport door was broken ($100) and called the homeowner, who is selling the house. There were no witnesses or suspects at the time of the report, and nothing appeared to be missing from inside the house. The victim said his real estate agent emailed him after hearing from a neighbor about the broken glass.
- North Lake Oaks Drive (theft from vehicle): Responded around 6:45 p.m. Sept. 8 to North Lake Oaks drive regarding a theft from a vehicle. The victim said someone stole her 2015 Bartlett Panthers parking pass from her Jeep between Aug. 13 and Sept. 5. She believes the theft occurred at Bartlett High School at 5688 Woodlawn, because the parking pass allowed for a vehicle to be parked at the school.
Sept. 10
- Old Brownsville Road (residential burglary): Responded at 12:20 p.m. Sept. 10 to a home on Old Brownsville Road regarding a residential burglary complaint. The responding officers found the back door kicked in, checked the residence and found no one inside. The TV in the den was missing.
Sept. 11
- Stage Road (burglary): Responded around 9:43 a.m. on Sept. 11 to the Hallmark greeting card store (5975 Stage Road) regarding a burglary complaint. The complainant said she unlocked the front door and noticed items were in disarray, and the alarm appeared to be disabled. She went to the office to turn the lights on and saw several items out of place there too, so she left immediately and called the business owner. A quick check of the store revealed a small amount of cash had been stolen.
- Stage Road (automobile burglary): Responded at 2:45 p.m. Sept. 11 to the Grand Pacific Buffet (6105 Stage Road) regarding an automobile burglary. The victim said someone broke into his black Ford F150 pickup truck and stole multiple items. Items stolen included an Apple iPhone 5 and a laptop case that contained a large number of official documents, including birth certificates, marriage certificates, a passport, banking statements and tax documentation. The responding officer observed that the driver’s side door lock had been punched out.
Sept. 12
- Sycamore View Road (theft): Responded at 4:22 p.m. Sept. 12 to Sycamore View Road regarding a theft complaint. The victim said someone stole her red Huffy bicycle from the carport between 7:15 a.m. Sept. 2 and 2 p.m. Sept. 12.
