Bartlett Police reports for Sept. 22-28, 2014

Bartlett police badgeThe Bartlett Police Department (BPD) reported the following incidents for Sept. 22-28, 2014.

Editor’s note: All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.

Sept. 22

  • Saint Francis Hospital – Bartlett: Responded at 3:52 p.m. on Sept. 22 to a reported dog/animal bite at Saint Francis Hospital – Bartlett. The victim said she was walking from the bus stop to her residence when a large, aggressive white pit bull approached her. She said the dog charged her, jumped on her and bit her on the left wrist. Animal Control issued a citation to the owner, and the suspect was advised to have the dog placed under a 10 quarantine for rabies evaluation as required by state law.

Sept. 23

  • Elmore Road: Responded at 11 a.m. on Sept. 23 to Elmore road regarding a theft complaint. The victim said someone stole a black-and-red Red Max gasoline-powered blower from a work truck. The vehicle was parked behind a gated/secured fence at the rear of that location.
  • Appling Road: Responded on Sept. 23 to the 3700 block of Appling Road regarding a vehicle burglary complaint. The victim said someone entered her Saturn SL and damaged the ignition switch and the cover of the steering column. The suspect also gained entry to the trunk and rummaged through it. The victim said her neighbor across the street said someone broke into her vehicle that same night.
  • Newstone: Responded on Sept. 23 to Newstone regarding a theft of bicycle complaint. The victim said that she noticed her son’s 20-inch red Walmart brand dirt bike was missing from the patio outside her apartment around midnight on Sept. 20.

Sept. 24

  • South Lake Oaks Drive: Responded at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 24 to South Lake Oaks Drive regarding a reported residential burglary. The fictim said he returned home from work around 4:15 p.m. and found his front door open and his back door kicked in. Multiple items were stolen from the home.
  • Spinners Cove: Responded at 6:50 p.m. Sept. 24 to Spinners Cove regarding a vandalism complaint. The victim said that someone had dug up her mulch and juniper ground cover ($100) from her yard. She reported seeing the mulch and juniper by her back door on the east side of the residence on Sept. 21, and she noticed it was gone around 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24. She contacted the area’s contractor, who said he did not remove the mulch or juniper. The responding officer observed what appeared to be shovel marks in the area.

Sept. 25

  • Doe Run Lane: Responded at 1:05 p.m. Sept. 25 to Doe Run Lane regarding an auto burglary. The victim said he parked his vehicle in his driveway around 6:45 p.m. Sept. 24. Before he left work for home, he put his laptop, case, and mouse in the trunk. At home, he locked the car as he normally does, using his key fob. He discovered the items were missing from the trunk around 7:30 a.m. Sept. 25.

Sept. 26

  • Hickory Grove: Responded at 6:47 a.m. Sept. 26 to Hickory Grove regarding a theft from motor vehicle. The victim said someone broke into his 2008 Honda Ridgeline between 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25 and 6:32 a.m. Sept. 26. An intruder left the vehicle’s interior lights on and the contents of the glove box pulled out and strewn around the car. His white Dr. Dre Beats headphones ($215) were missing from the glove box. The victim said he believes the suspect entered from the driver’s side of the car, which he left unlocked.
