Bartlett Police reports for Sept. 15-21, 2014

The Bartlett Police Department (BPD) reported the following incidents for Sept. 15-21.

Sept. 15

  • Shira Drive (theft): Responded around 1:29 p.m. Sept. 15 to Shira Drive regarding a reported theft. The complainant said someone stole a five-ton air conditioning condenser ($1,500) from the side of the residence between noon Sept. 12 and 1 p.m. Sept. 15.
  • Sycamore View (burglary): Responded on Sept. 15 to Sycamore View regarding a burglary complaint. The victim said that morning she found her cousin in the residence as she was preparing to leave. When she returned around 12:30 p.m., the master bedroom window was broken, and several items were missing.
  • Stoney Cove (theft from motor vehicle): Responded around 6:41 p.m. Sept. 15 to Stoney Cove regarding a reported theft from a motor vehicle. The victim said someone broke into her Chevrolet Tahoe and stole several items between 10:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and 9 a.m. Sept. 14. She saw no signs of forced entry.

Sept. 16

  • Pine Oak Lane (burglary): Responded around 6:22 p.m. Sept. 16 to Pine Oak Lane regarding a burglary complaint. The victim said someone stole her laptop and other electronics from her residence between 7:50 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. that day. Her yard maintenance man alerted her to the break-in, texting her to advise that her back sliding door was open and her dog was gone. There were no signs of forced entry at the sliding door or the other doors and windows.

Sept. 17

  • Diplomat Place (automobile burglary): Responded on Sept. 17 to Diplomat Place regarding a reported auto burglary in progress. The complainant saw a white male wearing a white shirt and pants inside of his neighbor’s van with the van’s interior dome light on. Then the suspect walked east toward Barrentine Drive. The responding officer caught up with a man wearing a white hoodie and long dark pants and walking westbound on the 5900 block of Barrentine Drive. The suspect consented to a search after the officer noticed he was carrying a lot of loose coins in his hoodie’s pocket. The search revealed $26.72 in loose coins in his hoodie’s pocket, both of his pants pockets and both pockets of the shorts he wore under the pants. The man also had a blue cup containing $12.49 in coins in his left pants pocket. After hearing his Miranda rights, the suspect confessed to stealing change from the neighborhood’s unlocked vehicles.
  • Surrey Hollow Cove (theft): While the responding officer was on the scene of an auto burglary at Surrey Hollow Cove around 9:45 a.m. Sept. 17, a victim on the same cove said he noticed several items missing from his backyard storage shed about a week previously. The items included a black Craftsman skill saw in a black case ($50), a yellow-and-black DeWalt reciprocating saw in a black case ($100), an unknown brand red impact wrench ($100), and a yellow-and-red Chicago hammer drill ($50).
  • Ellendale Drive (vandalism): Responded at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 17 to Ellendale Road regarding a vandalism complaint. The victim said she had recently moved from the residence and noticed the damage when she returned to clean. Between 2 p.m. Sept. 16 and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17, someone pulled down a wall-mounted heater in the living room and knocked a hole about three feet by one foot wide in the kitchen wall’s sheet rock. She estimated the damages at $100. She said juveniles may have been coming on the property at night, so a security watch was placed on the property.

Sept. 19

  • Virgil Road: Responded around 7:55 p.m. Sept. 19 to Virgil Road regarding a disturbance complaint. The victim said his ex-wife came over, argued and refused to leave. When he called the police, she bent his truck antenna ($25) and left.
