The Bartlett Police Department handled the following incidents for Oct. 17-21. This listing includes the most notable incidents for the reporting period and does not necessarily reflect all police activity.

Oct. 17
Billy Maher Road (vandalism)
A woman reported Oct. 17 that someone keyed her 2001 Toyota while it was parked at Bartlett Elementary School (3932 Billy Maher Road) between about 5 p.m. Oct. 1 and 3 p.m. Oct. 7. The principal will review surveillance footage upon completion of a police report. Damage is estimated at $500.
Vallendar Cove (suspicious circumstances)
A resident reported Oct. 17 that someone removed a window screen on her home’s southeast side. The suspect seemed to have placed both hands on the window and pulled down on the glass. Officers took photos and lifted a set of latent prints. There was no sign of entry.
The incident happened between about 8 a.m. Oct. 14 and 10:20 a.m. Oct. 17.
Countryhill (suspicious circumstances)
A man reported on Oct. 17 that his wife found an unfamiliar car backed into their garage and a heavyset black male in the garage when she came home for lunch around noon. The intruder left without incident. He drove a white Cadillac with Dallas Cowboys stickers on it.
Woodlawn (attempted auto burglary)
A woman who parked at the Bartlett Senior Center (5727 Woodlawn) found the rear driver’s side window of her Toyota Camry was shattered on Oct. 17. She parked it around 10 a.m. and found the damage around 3 p.m. Nothing was taken from her vehicle, as she doesn’t store any valuables in it.
Oct. 18
Franie Lane (attempted auto theft)
A man said someone broke into his enclosed trailer and tried to steal his truck and the attached trailer while they were parked in front of his home.
He parked them around 12:36 a.m. on Oct. 18 and slept until about 8 a.m. Then he noticed that the passenger-side window of his truck (a sheet of Plexiglas) was lying on the ground. When he went outside to fix it, he saw that two locks had been cut from the back of the trailer. Nothing was stolen from the trailer, but a Husqvarna backpack blower was missing from the truck.
U.S 64 (auto burglary complaint)
Someone entered an unlocked black Dodge Ram truck while it was parked at Lenny’s Sub Shop (7427 U.S. 64) and stole a man’s gray Paragon backpack ($50), which contained an Apple Air MacBook ($1,400), a pair of lime green/gray Beats by Dre headphones ($150), a “Teaching Gymnastics” textbook ($75) and another unnamed textbook ($75).
The theft happened between 7:15 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Oct. 19
Sungate Circle (residential burglary)
A woman reported Oct. 19 that someone stole lawn furniture from her back patio sometime between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. She said the back yard gate was not locked.
Oct. 21
U.S. 70 (burglary)
Employees at Hollywood Feed (6722 U.S. 70) arrived to find the front glass door shattered the morning of Oct. 21. Officers arrived and cleared the building. All three registers were opened but store employees leave them open overnight with no cash in them. It did not appear that anything was taken during the burglary.
