The Bartlett Police Department handled the following incidents for Nov. 7-13. This listing includes the most notable incidents for the reporting period and does not necessarily reflect all police activity.

Nov. 7
Jupiter Avenue (attempted auto burglary)
A car owner reported Nov. 7 that someone tried to punch the lock on his 1997 Honda Accord while it was parked in front of his home. The incident happened between 5 p.m. Nov. 5 and 9:45 a.m. Nov. 7. Although the suspect didn’t gain entry, the estimated damage to the car is more than $500.
Nov. 8
Old Brownsville and Germantown roads (found property)
A citizen reported on Nov. 8 that she found an Apply iPad lying on the ground while she was out jogging a couple of days earlier.
A check of the tablet’s serial number on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database determined that the table had not been reported stolen. As of the date of this report, there was no information on the owner of the device.
Nov. 9
Spotted Fawn (vandalism)
A woman reported paint damage from someone egging her Toyota 4Runner on Nov. 9. She said she returned home from work around 2:30 p.m. and didn’t notice the damage until her son called her outside around 5 p.m.
The responding officer saw what looked like dried egg on the right front bumper of her vehicle, and the paint appeared affected. The officer took photos of the damage, which the owner estimated around $1,000.
Nov. 11
Altruria Road (vandalism)
Someone did deliberate and costly damage to a man’s truck, the victim reported on Nov. 11. His mechanic advised that he believes someone poured an unknown substance into his gas tank. The substance caused about $12,000 in damages to his truck’s internal engine parts.
U.S. 64 (theft from motor vehicle)
Thieves were in the parking lot instead of on the big screen at the Malco Theater (7930 U.S. 64), a customer reported on Nov. 11. The victim said he arrived around 7:10 p.m. for a movie, parked on the far east side of the lot near the New York Suit Exchange and returned to his truck at 9:34 p.m. In the interim, someone had punched the driver’s side front door lock.
Items stolen included two handguns (a Glock 42 and a Glock 27) and a Sony car radio.
Nov. 12
Quail Meadow Crossing (vandalism to a vehicle)
Someone keyed the entire passenger side of a man’s white Chevrolet while it was parked at his apartment complex, the Quail Ridge Highlands, he reported on Nov. 12. He said the incident happened between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Nov. 9.
Wolf Lake Drive (theft from motor vehicle)
A co-worker helped a man catch a would-be thief in action, the victim reported on Nov. 12.
He said he left his 2010 Chevy Silverado unlocked in the parking lot while at work, and a colleague spotted a black female sitting in the driver’s seat. So he went outside and saw her in his truck, placing items into her purse. He confronted her and detained her until the officer arrived.
After the woman heard her Miranda Rights, she said she got hot while walking and decided to sit in the man’s truck to cool off. She admitted going through his items and selecting an iPod ($100) and a knife ($20) from the center console and putting them in her purse. The officer found the items in her purse and returned them to the victim.
The officer determined she entered the truck without the owner’s consent and with the purpose of stealing items. The officer took her to Bartlett jail on charges.
