Thefts, a pickpocket, and an angry girlfriend wielding a car jack rounded out the weekly report from the Bartlett Police Department (BPD) for Nov. 24-30, 2014.

These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.
Nov. 24
Delaney Valley (burglary)
A home builder reported on Nov. 24 that someone had stolen appliances from a home on Delaney Valley between Nov. 17 and Nov. 20.
The stolen items included a Frigidaire black and stainless steel smooth-top oven ($562), a Frigidaire stainless steel over-the-oven microwave ($215) and a General Electric 1/3 horsepower food disposer ($51). The installation cost was $210, making the total loss add up to $1,038.
Nov. 25
U.S. 64 (suspicious persons)
An officer responded to Super Walmart (8400 U.S. 64) around 8:04 a.m. Nov. 25 regarding a report of two males, one black and one white, walking around the parking lot and looking into vehicles. The complainant described both males as being about 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing gray hoodies, with the white man in jeans and the black man wearing a wool cap.
The responding officer spotted the suspects and a third person, a white male,sitting in a gray Pontiac Grand Prix when he arrived. They all denied peeking into vehicles parked on the lot, and the driver consented to a vehicle search.
The officer found a red wallet containing a Mississippi driver’s license, personal paperwork and two Visa debit cards belonging to a Southaven woman. When dispatch contacted her, she was in the process of filing an auto burglary report with the Southaven (Miss.) Police Department.
The suspects’ trunk contained a laptop, tablet, camera, cell backup bags of groceries and clothes, and a tool bag containing Bosch tools and parts.
An officer contacted the owner of the laptop and tools/parts, who hadn’t noticed that items had been stolen from his vehicle. Detectives took possession of all the property.
Seventh Road (vandalism)
A Seventh Road resident reported around 4:53 p.m. Nov. 25 that his girlfriend had smashed his car’s trunk and rear tail lights with a car jack.
He said they argued about an hour earlier when they were near U.S. 70 and Interstate 385, and she got out of the car and walked. She had friends pick her up and bring her to the Seventh Road address.
Nov. 27
Bartlett Boulevard (suspicious circumstance)
Someone reported suspicious circumstances at W.J. Freeman Park (2629 Bartlett Boulevard) the morning of Nov. 27.
The complainant said someone climbed a chain link fence and pried open the sheds containing girls’ softball equipment and field maintenance equipment between 5 p.m. Nov. 20 and 8:30 a.m. Nov. 27.
U.S. 64 (pocket picking)
A woman reported that someone took her iPhone 4s from her pocket while she was shopping at Walmart (8400 U.S. 64) between 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Nov. 27.
Nov. 29
Magnolia Woods Drive (theft from motor vehicle)
A Magnolia Woods Drive resident reported on Nov. 29 that someone entered his unlocked truck and stole five firearms between 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28 and 8:30 a.m. Nov. 29.
Nov. 30
Eagles Nest Road (theft)
An Eagles Nest Road resident reported on Nov. 30 that someone stole camera equipment he left overnight in his unlocked car in his driveway on Nov. 25. Items stolen included a Nikon Digital Camera D3100 ($500) and an extra lens ($100).
