The Bartlett Police Department reported the following incidents for May 5-8.
May 5
- Galaxie Street: Responded on May 5 to report of larceny at Galaxie St. The victim said sometime between April 28 and May 5 someone stole his gray Briggs Stratton push mower ($150) from his unlocked carport shed.
- Kirby-Whitten: Responded around 11:46 p.m. on May 5 to a report of an armed robbery at the Circle K, 2735 Kirby-Whitten.The victim said around 11:35 p.m. she walked out from the back of the store with a case of drinks and noticed two unidentified black males in the store. One brandished a silver handgun and placed it on the counter, demanding money from the cash register. He told her to put all the Newport 100s cigarettes in a bag. Then the suspects fled with the merchandise, running toward U.S. 70. A possible suspect vehicle was seen and may be an older model white four-door with a sunroof, possibly a Toyota Camry. The matter is under investigation.
May 6
- Yates: Responded around 2 p.m. May 6 regarding suspicious circumstances on Yates. The victim said he was out of town on May 1 when he received a call from his alarm company, saying his home’s alarm had been activated. Officers responded but could not check the rear of the residence because of a locked gate. When the homeowner returned on May 6, he saw the rear door of his home was open. The door frame was pushed out, and the lock was damaged. No entry was gained into the house.
May 7
- Appling Road: Responded on May 7 to the 3700 block of Appling Road. The complainant, who lives in Lakeland, owns a Bartlett trophy shop and noticed that brass plates used in trophy manufacturing had been disappearing over the past several months. The victim started checking metal scrap yards and found that one of his temporary employees had been selling the brass plates at a recycling yard on Brooks Road, Memphis. The victim provided his best estimate at the time of the report and said the suspect took approximately 2,000 pounds of brass plates valued around $15,000.
- Memphis Memorial Gardens: Responded to Bartlett Police Headquarters regarding a complaint of auto burglary that occurred May 1 at Memphis Memorial Gardens, 3700 Germantown Road.The victim said he left his unlocked vehicle parked in the funeral home lot around on May 1 and returned around 4:10 p.m. to discover that someone had entered the vehicle and stolen an Apple iPad and a black nylon CD case with approx 15 music CDs.
- Beagle Lane: Responded to Beagle Lane at 4:05 p.m. on May 7 regarding a theft complaint. The victim said sometime between 11 p.m. on May 6 and 6:30 a.m. on May 7, someone entered both of her unsecured vehicles and stole a portable XM radio device valued at $50. The victim said she discovered the ransacked vehicles and the theft around 6:30 a.m. that day. The XM radio device was connected to the auxiliary port in her 2005 Toyota Camry, and nothing was taken from her 2009 Honda Odyssey.
May 8
- Noah Lane: Responded around 8:21 a.m. on May 8 to Noah Lane regarding a theft report. The victim said his brother-in-law advised him during the middle of April that his dog had escaped from the fenced back yard. A couple of days later, he noticed that the bucket keeping his unlocked shed door closed had been moved. He was not concerned, thinking that his son might have moved it.Then on May 4, he went to use his lawn equipment and noticed someone had stolen a back pack blower ($309) and weed trimmer ($249). The suspect damaged the backyard’s double gate during the theft.
- Appling: Responded on May 8 to the 3700 block of Appling regarding a complaint about vehicle damage. The victim said someone keyed (scratched) her Toyota Tacoma truck between midnight and 10 a.m. while it was parked in the driveway of her Foggy River home.
