The Bartlett Police Department reported the following activities for March 10-16:
March 10
Explorer: Responded on March 10 to reported auto burglary. The complainant said he parked his van in his driveway approximately a week ago and noticed on March 10 that his Garmin GPS was missing. He said the van was locked; the responding officer did not observe any signs of forced entry.
Point West Cove: Responded on March 10 to a complaint of indecent exposure on to Point West Cove. The complainant said she was walking when a black male driving a gold Mercury asked for directions. When she approached, the suspect exposed himself to her.
March 11
Stage Road: Responded on March 11 to reported burglary at Walgreen’s, 5950 Stage Road. The officer found the front doors damaged and the ATM missing. The store’s anti-theft system was damaged from the ATM being dragged through the front doors, but the officer reviewed the store’s video surveillance footage. It showed a heavy male suspect prying the front door open, entering the store, tying a strap around the ATM and waiting for the machine to be pulled out of the store. The suspect pushed the ATM to the east of the parking lot and out of view.
Canna Hill: Responded on March 11to a theft complaint on Canna Hill. The complainant, a property manager for Select Portfolio Servicing, said a stove (unknown make and model) was taken between Feb. 10 and March 4. The officer saw no apparent signs of forced entry; all doors and windows were locked at the complainant’s arrival. All other major kitchen appliances remained in place.
March 12
Germantown Road: Responded on March 12 to reported auto burglary at the Hampton Inn, 2935 Germantown Road. The complainant said he parked his Navigator on the hotel’s west side parking lot around 9 p.m. on March 11. He found it burglarized when he returned around 8 a.m. on March 12. The driver’s side lock had been punched.
The only item reported stolen was a Quad City Bank and Trust envelope containing two $100 bills. The officer’s review of hotel surveillance video showed a silver SUV pulling into the parking lot around 9:16 p.m. on March 11. A black male passenger got out and entered the complainant’s vehicle. The suspect driver wore a dark T-shirt, and the passenger wore a dark jacket and khaki pants.
March 13
Kirby Whitten: Observed male kneeling by the right rear tire of a Kia at 2:59 p.m. on March 13 on northbound Kirby Whitten at Old Brownsville. The suspect looked at the approaching officer and entered his own vehicle nearby.
The suspect spontaneously said, “I was attempting to take the tire off to put it on my car” and said if it had fit he would have taken it.
The officer advised the suspect of his Miranda rights, and the suspect voluntarily waived them He then repeated his account.
The officer saw that three of four lug nuts were missing from the Kia’s right rear tire and a lug nut wrench was on top of the suspect’s vehicle. When asked, the suspect produced the lug nuts from inside his vehicle. The suspect, a juvenile, was cited and released to his parent.
March 14
Star Ridge: Responded around 2:16 p.m. March 14 to vandalism complaint at Star Ridge. The complainant said that someone had cut the lock on his backyard shed within the past three weeks but he didn’t notice anything stolen.
March 15
U.S. 64: Responded around 8:15 p.m. on March 15 to a theft complaint at the Suburban Lodge, 7380 U.S. 64. The complainant said his vehicle’s Tennessee license plate was stolen sometime between noon March 14 and 8 p.m. March 15.
