The Bartlett Police Department (BPD) handled the following incidents during July 19-24, 2016. This listing includes the most notable incidents for the reporting period and does not necessarily reflect all police activity.

July 19
U.S. 64 (theft)
Someone stole all four rimes and tires from a gold 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe while it was parked at Serro Chevrolet (7850 U.S. 64), the manager reported July 19. The total estimated loss was $3,000. The theft happened between 9 p.m. July 18 and 9 a.m. July 19.
July 20
Lauren Drive (burglary)
A burglar made off with a family’s 60-inch Vizio smart TV, the victim reported July 20. The item was valued at $700. The responding officers saw no signs of forced entry into the home. The family said nothing else was stolen.
Jills Creek Drive (theft)
A vehicle owner noticed July 20 that someone had taken the Tennessee license plate from his 2008 Honda while it was parked outside his home on Jills Creek Drive. He said the theft must have happened between 9 p.m. July 19 and 3:50 p.m. July 20.
July 21
Altruria Road (theft)
A resident on Altruria Road also reported July 21 that someone stole the license plate from her 1998 gold Chevrolet while it was parked in her driveway. She said it happened around July 1.
July 22
Meadows Court Drive (burglary)
A son renovating a home that his parents own was the victim of a burglary, he reported on July 22. Damages and thefts totalled $3,075.
Responding officers found that the back door had been forcibly pried open and the frame damaged ($400), and the metal attic vent had been bent ($200) to allow access into the attic.
Items missing included 41 boxes of laminate flooring ($1,100), 20 door handles ($400), four light fixtures ($600), a ceiling fan ($75) and a Bosch hammer drill ($300).
July 23
U.S. 64 (auto burglary)
Surveillance video at Lowes (8300 U.S. 64) caught details of a truck burglary on July 23.
The victim said sometime between 1:50 p.m. and 2:03 p.m. a black male suspect drove up in a gray four-door sedan and parked next to his Ford F250 while he was inside the store.
A black male exited the car, punched the lock on his truck, and stole two checkbooks and a set of keys to his recreational vehicle from his middle console.
The Lowes manager reviewed the video surveillance and showed where the gray sedan passed in front of the store and parked next to the victim’s truck.
July 24
Butterfly View Cove (burglary)
A resident spotted thieves in the act on July 24 but was too late to stop them.
The man said he unintentionally left his garage door open. When he opened the interior garage door, he saw two black males loading objects into a dark Chrysler 300 that was parked in his driveway.
He ran back into the kitchen and retrieved his pistol, but by the time he ran back outside the suspects were leaving his driveway, headed toward New Brunswick Road.
Items stolen included a Craftsman weed trimmer ($250), Craftsman handheld blower ($250), an orange Puma golf bag ($500), a set of Callaway irons ($1,000), an Odyssey putter ($200), a Cleveland driver ($300), a Shark vacuum cleaner ($250), a 5 lb. portable air compressor of unknown brand ($150), a Dewalt drill ($125), and a Dewalt impact drill ($125). The stolen items totalled $3,150.
Bartlett Boulevard (burglary)
Someone at Wingstop (2839 Bartlett Blvd.) reported the burglary of $1,000 and named a former employee as the suspect.
The complainant said she noticed around 10 a.m. that the money bag from the safe and all of the money from the registers were missing.
