Bartlett Police reports for Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2015

The Bartlett Police Department (BPD) reported the following incidents for Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2015.

Jan. 26


Stock image of a police carAppling Road (attempted burglary)

Unknown suspects set off a home’s alarm system on the 3700 block of Appling around 6 a.m. on Jan. 26. Responding officers checked the exterior of her residence and found no intruders. The complainant noticed there were two chips on the exterior surface of her sunroom’s double-paned windows.

U.S 64 (theft)

Someone stole a trailer from the Lowe’s parking lot (8300 U.S. 64) between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 26. The owner said he parked his truck and trailer in the middle of the parking lot near the front of the store.

When he returned, he saw that his black 16-foot tandem axle trailer ($1,200) was missing.

Stage Road (theft from motor vehicle)

Someone stole the purse from a woman’s truck between 7:24 p.m. and about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at Planet Fitness (5740 Stage Road). The responding officer observed damage to the lock on the passenger side door. It appeared to have been punched through to allow entry.


Jan. 28


Bartlett Boulevard (auto burglary)

A victim on Bartlett Boulevard reported that someone stole change from a car’s ashtray around:12:15 a.m. Jan. 28. There was no damage to the vehicle.

The victim said a suspect ran southbound on the boulevard toward Memphis. The responding officer arrived within three minutes and observed two unknown black males wearing black pants and dark blue or black zip-up hoodies. Both were in their late teens or early 20s.

The first suspect had light skin and medium-length black hair in a ponytail. The second suspect had darker skin, a short afro and possibly a mustache.

The officer saw them walk south in front of Bartlett Woods Apartment complex and disappear into the complex after spotting the officer.

Blue Springs (armed robbery)

An armed robber met people in their carport on Blue Springs around 10:45 p.m. Jan. 28. They had just returned from a Memphis Tigers game, and the driver got out and walked around to the carport door, stopping to adjust something in the bed of the truck that was also parked in the carport.

That’s when he heard a male voice tell him, “Get back in the car.”

He turned to see a thin black male about 6 feet 3 inches tall, holding a black semiautomatic gun. The suspect had a black hoodie over his head and wore a black-and-white bandanna covering his nose and mouth.

The suspect left in a dark sedan, traveling westbound on Blue Springs toward Kenwood.


Jan. 29


Hatch Road (auto burglary)

Someone stole a laptop from a man’s unlocked vehicle overnight between Jan. 28 and Jan. 29 on Hatch Road. The victim said it was a silver Dell laptop about five years old.


Jan. 30


Brunswick Road (auto burglary)

A man reported that someone stole items from his unlocked vehicle, left briefly untended on Jan. 30 in his workplace’s parking lot.

The victim, a resident on Durham Drive in Memphis, works at Lake Side (2011 Brunswick Road).

He said he started his vehicle but then ran back inside for about 10 minutes. When he returned, his Bluetooth device ($17) and a Cobra .380 caliber semiautomatic pistol ($250) were missing.

Forrest Circle (residential burglary)

Forrest Circle resident reported on Jan. 30 that someone had stolen several jewelry pieces ($16,900) from her curio cabinet in the master bathroom.

She said the thefts occurred between 8 a.m. Jan. 21 and 5 p.m Jan. 29.

Her side gate and back door to the house were left unlocked and the alarm system was not active at the time the theft occurred.
