Vandalism, thefts and burglaries are among the incidents the Bartlett Police Department (BPD) handled from May 6 through May 10.
Editor’s note: All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.
May 6
Santa Valley (burglary)
Somone ransacked a Santa Valley resident’s home on May 6, the victim reported.
The man said he and his family left their home’s back door unlocked, and they believe that’s where the suspect entered sometime between 4 p.m. and 9:43 p.m. that day.
Nothing was stolen but many items had been misplaced throughout the home.
May 7
Doefield Trail (burglary)
A man reported that someone had stolen his Toro lawnmower ($289) between 3:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. May 7.
The man said the mower was in his attached garage, which was left open.
May 8
Germantown Road (theft)
A guest at the Hampton Inn (2735 Germantown Road) reported on May 8 that someone stole her black iPhone 4s ($300) from her room while she was out between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Wolftrace (residential burglary)
A resident on Wolftrace reported May 8 that someone stole his gas-powered red Craftsman pressure washer ($320) from the garage.
The family heard a noise in the garage between 6:05 p.m. and 6:10 p.m. but didn’t know a theft had occurred until later.
Loosahatchie (burglary)
A man reported that someone burglarized his Loosahatchie home between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 8.
The responding officer identified the point of entry as a rear kitchen window that had been broken.
Items stolen included a black iPad Mini ($350), silver Apple Mac Air laptop ($1,000), and a pair of black 3-foot-tall Polk Audio home theater stereo speakers ($400).
The officer also saw a large black flatscreen TV on the living room coffee table. It appeared that the suspect had tried to steal it too but was not able to move it.
Holister Cove (theft)
Someone stole a air conditioning unit from outside a home under construction on Holister Cove, a complainant reported on May 8.
The item was a model GSX 130481 ($1,500), and the theft occurred between 2 p.m. May 7 and 3:10 p.m. May 8.
The complainant represented Regency Home Builders and said he believes the theft may be connected to another air conditioning unit that was also recently stolen from the area.
May 10
Bartlett Boulevard (vandalism)
Someone damaged the field house at Bartlett Baseball Field (2629 Bartlett Boulevard), a coach reportd on May 10.
Security footage showed two white female suspects enter the field around 6:40 p.m. May 9 and threw baseball helmets on top of the batting cages. The suspects then climbed on the dugout roof and broke pieces off the top until leaving around 7:30 p.m.
One of the coaches, a teacher at Elmore Park, told the responding officer he recognized the suspects. The matter is still under investigation.
Wythe House Cove (burglary)
Someone stole a Dayton generator ($2,000) and a black-and-white weed trimmer ($100) from an attached garage on Wythe House Cove, the resident reported on May 10. The garage was not secured.
The resident said he used the trimmer on May 3, and that was the last time he remembered seeing it in the garage.
Hedgewood Lane (vandalism)
A resident on Hedgewood Lane reported that someone egged two vehicles parked at her home sometime between 10:15 p.m. May 9 and 5:15 a.m. May 10.
