The Bartlett Police Department (BPD) reported the following incidents for May 18-24, 2015.
Editor’s note: All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.
May 18
Tall Meadows Cove (theft)
Officers responded to a theft complaint at Tall Meadows Cove around 7:30 p.m. May 18. The victim said someone stole tools and equipment from the bed of his 1994 Ford F150, which was parked in front of his house.
Items stolen included black Power Stroke 212 CC Generator ($400) and a black Craftsman Tool Box with assorted sockets ($150).
He said the theft occurred between 8 p.m. May 17 and 7 a.m. May 18.
U.S. 64 (stolen vehicle)
A spokesman for Sunrise GMC (8500 U.S. 64) reported on May 18 that someone stole a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado from the lot between 7:30 p.m. May 14 and 3 p.m. May 16.
The truck, which was gtray with a gray camper shell on the bed, was parked on the north side of the lot.
May 19
Lauren Drive (burglary)
A woman who was feeding birds while the homeowner was out of town discovered a break-in May 19 at their home on Lauren Drive. She entered through the rear kitchen door, using her key and did not recall whether the outside storm door (deadbolt lock) was or was not locked when she arrived.
The interior back door to the residence was just closed but not locked. Inside, she noticed that a liquor cabinet had been knocked over and the rear kitchen window was broken.
She left and called the police. The owner said the only items immediately known to be missing was a Mossberg 20 gauge single barrel shotgun (serial number unknown).
Rebecca Woods Drive (aggravated burglary)
A resident on Rebecca Woods Drive heard his home alarm sound when the power went off in the early hours of May 19, and then he heard someone banging on a window.
When he went outside, he noticed that his electrical meter had been dismantled and there were foot prints in the dew going to a window on the east side of his residence and into his backyard.
May 22
Stage Road (theft from motor vehicle)
A woman at St. Anns Church (6529) reported that Regions bank called her at 9:47 p.m. May 22, saying her debit card had been used in multiple locations.
She went outside and saw her passenger door’s window was smashed. Inside her vehicle, her Coach purse ($80) was missing.
It included her driver’s license, bank card, Visa credit card and a Macy’s credit card. Her Regions bank card was used at a Mapco for $47.27 and a Q Mart for $29.81 and $27.89. She was not able to provide a location on those gas stations at the time of the report.
Another victim at the scene said someone had also broken his vehicle’s driver’s side window. Items missing included a white Apple iPad ($600) and his wallet with a Regions Bank card, Missouri driver’s license and Army ID card. He said his bank card had not been used and he was in the process of cancelling it.
The responding officer went to Mapco at 6127 Stage Road, and the clerk was unable to find a receipt of $47.27 from the first crime victim.
The officer took photos of the damaged vehicles and placed the photos into digital evidence.
U.S. 64 (theft)
A person on the 7800 block of U.S. 64 reported on May 22 that someone had stolen the drive shaft from a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup ($550). The owner said the truck was parked at the rear north end of the parking lot by the dumpster.
May 23
Venson Drive (burglary)
A Venson Drive resident reported on May 23 that someone took items from the unlocked storage building in his backyard between April 21 and May 22. Items stolen included a Dewalt mitre saw ($400), an air compressor of unknown make/model ($150), a table saw ($50) and an electric grinder ($79).
May 19
Yates Street (aggravated burglary/robbery)
A resident on Yates Street reported that two black males entered his home through the unlocked back door around 11 a.m. May 24.
One of them held him by the throat and seemed to have a gun, while the other went to the back of the home. The two suspects then left through the back door.
The victim said the only item stolen was an undisclosed amount of cash from a desk in his office.
He said the one who robbed his home was about 5 foot 4 inches tall and wore a black hooded jacket and pink mask. The other suspect had large hands and was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt.
