The Bartlett Police Report for the period of March 25-31, 2019, lists the most notable crimes for that period as reported by the Bartlett Police Department; it does not necessarily reflect all police activity. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.
Burglaries & thefts
- Olivia Hill: A man reported March 26 that someone had entered his home and stolen about $2,800 worth of items.
- Wolf Lake Boulevard: A man who parked his tractor trailer on Wolf Lake Boulevard around 3 p.m. March 28 reported that when he returned the next day, someone had stolen the front bumper ($1,000).
- Yale Road: A man reported on March 30 that someone stole his yellow Santa Cruz Tall Boy mountain bike ($6,000) from the bike rack on his Jeep sometimes between 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. He was parked on the far east side of the parking lot for Nesbit Park, and the bike was attacked to the rack with a locking cable.
- U.S. 64: A spokesman for Guitar Center (8000 U.S. 64) reported on March 30 that four guitars were missing ($9,726.99 total).
- Memphis Arlington Road: Officers responded to a burglary at Super Smoker’s Shop (6525 Memphis Arlington Road) at 1:18 a.m. March 30. They found the front sliding glass door broken. The owner arrived and showed officers the surveillance footage. Two male suspects looked through the glass around 1:06 a.m., threw a brick through the glass door, entered the building and later left. The responding officers found a hole in the fence behind the business, leading into the Sungate subdivision, and they said the suspects might have fled there. The stolen and damaged property totaled $2,500.
Vehicle-related
- U.S. 64: A man reported on March 28 that someone had rummaged through his unlocked truck while it was parked in the driveway at Sunrise Pontiac GMC (8500 U.S. 64). Nothing was stolen.
- Centralia Road: A man reported on March 28 that someone had rummaged through his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in his driveway between 2 p.m. March 27 and 8 a.m. March 28. The victim found the glove box and console open, and papers were scattered about.
Other
- North Germantown Parkway: A spokesman for Wolfchase Nissan reported at 2 a.m. March 25 that someone had rammed open the southern-most security gate, possibly with a vehicle, and damaging the gate. Tire tracks led through the grass near the gate and into the dealership. The gates appeared as if someone had rammed them while leaving the dealership. The responding officers did not find any suspects or burglarized vehicles on the property.
- Stage Road: A spokesman at Fred’s (6064 Stage Road) said a suspect came in at 6:20 p.m. March 30 and tried to buy merchandise with a suspicious $100 bill. Testing revealed that the bill was counterfeit. While the spokesman was calling the police, the suspect fled empty-handed toward the woods near the Bartlett Heights apartments.
