April 10
Kirby Whitten Road (armed suspect)
Officers responded to a report of an armed person at Holly-wood 20 Cinema (6711 Stage Road) around 10:40 p.m. April 10.
The first officer on the scene saw the victim holding the suspect down, with his knee in the suspect’s back, so the officer cuffed the suspect and waited for other officers to arrive.
The victim said he was driving north in the center lane of Kirby Whitten when a gold Chevy Malibu made a U-turn from the far right lane in front of his vehicle. When the victim honked, the front-right passenger in the Malibu pointed a gray handgun out of the window toward his vehicle.
The victim was talking to a police dispatcher when he saw the Malibu turn into the driveway at 3189 Kirby Whitten. The suspect exited the front seat, holding a silver handgun with an orange tip. When the victim identified himself as a police officer the suspect then walked back to the Malibu and put the weapon on the passenger floorboard. The victim held the suspect down until officers arrived.
The responding officers found a .45 Compact BB gun with a black grip in plain sight on the front passenger floorboard of the Malibu. The suspect was transported to Bartlett City Jail for booking and processing.
