The Bartlett Police Report for the period of April 1-7, 2019, lists the most notable crimes for that period as reported by the Bartlett Police Department; it does not necessarily reflect all police activity. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.
Shots fired
Several anonymous 911 callers reported 10 to 20 gunshots heard in the area of Abigail Bluffs around 11 p.m. March 31, and officers responded. They found several rifle and handgun casings on the street and in the grass at the intersection of Abigail Bluffs and Guffin Road.
They closed the immediate area as a crime scene and contacted witnesses, who said unknown suspects had fired multiple rounds into a house. Officers saw several bullet holes on the east and front sides of the home. Detectives took over the crime scene investigation when they arrived.
Vehicle-related
Doefield Trail: An officer responded to a would-be car burglary at 1:01 a.m. April 1. The victim said he woke to the sound of his car alarm going off. When he went outside, he saw someone in a red hooded jacket running from the driveway and into a car waiting down the street. He said no items were taken and the vehicle didn’t appear to be damaged.
Stage Road: Officers responded to reports of people trying to get into vehicles in the Kroger parking lot (5995 Stage Road) on April 3. Witnesses said the suspects entered a dark blue or black Dodge Caravan with a yellow tag. Officers stopped the van when it turned south on Bartlett Boulevard. The occupants said they didn’t speak English, so officers contacted Homeland Security and an ICE agent made the scene. After an investigation, officers arrested both suspects for automobile burglary.
Kate Bond Road: A woman reported around 6:30 p.m. April 3 that someone had broken out the front passenger side window of her vehicle in the parking lot of Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett (2986 Kate Bond Road). She said nothing was out of place or stolen.
Memphis Arlington Road: A man on a construction job at Youth Villages (7410 Memphis Arlington Road) reported on April 3 that someone burglarized his unlocked vehicle between 1 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Appling Road: A woman reported that she left her vehicle parked and locked on the Appling Lake parking lot around 5 p.m. April 6. When she returned about 40 minutes later, she found the driver’s side rear window shattered and pushed under her vehicle. Her purse had been stolen from the floorboard behind the driver’s seat.
Memphis Arlington Road: A woman reported around 8 p.m. April 6 that someone had broken her vehicle’s driver’s side window and stolen her wallet. She was parked at Rainbow Health and Rehab (8119 Memphis Arlington Road).
Stage Road: A man said he parked his unlocked vehicle on the west side of the lot at Hollywood Cinema (6711 Stage Road) at 6:05 p.m. on April 6. When he returned at 9 p.m., his center console was open and his Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun was missing. He said his other valuables remained inside the vehicle.
Kenbridge Drive: A man reported on April 7 that he had left his vehicle unlocked overnight, and he noticed that the passenger side door was ajar. He said someone had ransacked the vehicle but nothing of value was missing.
Burglaries and thefts
Gingerhill Drive: A man reported that someone stole an Amazon package off his front porch on April 2, the same day it was delivered.
Steffan Woods Cove: A member at Planet Fitness (5740 Stage Road) reported that he put his wallet in a gym locker on April 1. On April 3, he noticed that numerous items were missing from his wallet.
U.S. 64: A customer at Walmart (8400 U.S. 64) reported on April 5 that someone stole her cell phone from her cart while she was shopping in the store.
