The Bartlett Police Department reported the following activity for the period of Dec. 23-Jan. 5:
Hampton Inn: Responded at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 24 to reported theft from a motor vehicle at the Hampton Inn, 2935 N. Germantown Road. The victim said someone broken into her U-Haul truck during the preceding night. The officer saw that the door lock had been punched out. The only item taken was a black computer bag containing soap.
Davies Plantation: Responded at 2:53 p.m. on Dec. 24 to report of attempted theft of a four-wheeler at Davies Plantation. The complainant said the family’s garage alarm went off, and her husband went outside to check the alarm. There he saw three black males wearing black hoodies by his truck. One suspect was on top of the four-wheeler in the bed of the truck, while a second suspect was trying to remove the straps holding the four-wheeler in place. A third suspect had lowered the truck’s tailgate and was pulling on the ramps under the four-wheeler, trying to lower it out of the truck. The husband yelled, “Hey, what are you doing!” when he ran outside, and the suspects fled in a dark SUV (possibly a Suburban) pulling a 16-foot trailer. When the officers arrived, the complainant said her husband had left to chase the suspects.
Quail Ridge Apartments: Responded at 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 25 to a reported four-wheeler theft on Newstone Drive. The victim said he left his apartment around 3:30 p.m. and noticed his 2003 green Yamaha Grizzly 660 and its green 4×6 trailer had been stolen. The four-wheeler had a camouflaged storage bin on the front rack.
Brenners Place: Responded around 5:22 p.m. on Dec. 26 to an auto burglary complaint. The complainant said his wife noticed the burglary around 11:30 a.m. when getting into her car, which was unlocked and parked on the street in front of the house. Her purse had been knocked over onto the passenger floorboard. Her camouflage-patterned pink Browning wallet was missing, along with the Social Security card, birth certificate, debit card and credit card it contained. The complainant said they cancelled the debit and credit cards immediately. His wife last saw the purse in the vehicle around 9 p.m. on Dec. 25.
7300 block of Highway 64: Responded to report of vandalism at 4:41 p.m. Dec. 27. The complainant said he was leaving his apartment for work and noticed the tires on his 1993 Ford Explorer had been cut. The estimated cost of replacement is $400.
Bartlett Funeral Home parking lot: Responded around 8:20 p.m. on Dec. 28 to auto burglary report at Bartlett Funeral Home, 5803 Stage Road. The victim said he parked behind the funeral home, locked his truck doors, and went inside a nearby restaurant around 6:50 p.m. to eat with his family. He noticed the truck break-in when he returned around 8:12 p.m. There was no sign of forced entry. Several items were stolen, including firearms.
Walmart parking lot: Responded around 7:45 p.m. on Dec. 26 to theft complaint in Walmart parking lot at 8400 Hwy. 64. The victim said she accidentally left without her purse after putting her children in her vehicle. She noticed that her purse was missing about 40 minutes after leaving the store. When she returned to the parking lot, the purse was missing, but her empty shopping cart was still in the same spot.
Walmart parking lot: Responded to reported theft on Dec. 29 at Walmart, 8400 Hwy. 64. The victim said his iPhone was stolen from his unlocked vehicle in the store’s parking lot between 9:30 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. The victim also reported getting a call from an unknown suspect who said he was still at Walmart and wanted to trade cash for the phone. The suspect told the victim to meet him at the Walmart in Memphis on Germantown and Trinity for the exchange; the officer advised the victim not to go. The officer also asked dispatch to contact the Memphis Police Department regarding this call and to hold and notify the officer if contact was made. No contact was made with the suspect.
St. Ann’s Church: Responded at 9:33 a.m. on Dec. 30 to vandalism report at St. Ann’s Catholic School, 6529 Stage Road. Complainant said that sometime between 6 p.m. Dec. 23 and 6 a.m. Dec. 30 one or more unknown suspects broke the hinge and lock that secure the cafeteria cash register. The register held no valuables. Maintenance crew members were the only personnel in the school during the winter break. No additional signs of forced entry to the school were evident.
Stage Road business area: Responded around 5:18 p.m. Dec. 20 to an auto burglary report at 6600 Stage Road. One of the two victims said his Silverado was burglarized while parked near ATC Fitness between 3:45 p.m. and about 4:50 p.m. When returning to the vehicle, the other victim saw her event planner lying in the middle of the street. The only item missing was a Coach wallet; the owner said she received fraudulent use alerts that began shortly after the burglary.
Stage Road business: Responded at 5:56 p.m. Dec. 30 to a reported theft from a motor vehicle at 6105 Stage Road. The complainant and his wife went to dinner at Grand Pacific around 5:15 p.m. and then returned to find the driver’s side door was unlocked and had been forced open. The woman’s handbag and its contents were missing from the backseat.
Ellis Road: Responded at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 30 to reported trailer theft on Ellis Road. The victim said his utility trailer was stolen from his home between 6 p.m. Dec. 24 and 6 p.m. Dec. 30. The trailer was a 5×8 black 2012 model with a wooden floor and no back gate. The trailer has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as stolen.
Bartlett Woods: Responded at 8:48 a.m. on Dec. 31 to a burglary complaint on Magnolia Woods Drive. The victim said two sheds in his back yard were broken into between 9 p.m. Dec. 30 and 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 31. Damages reported included broken locks on both sheds and the theft of a Stihl leaf blower.
Hwy. 70 residential: Responded at 8:01 a.m. on Jan. 1 to a theft complaint on Hwy. 70. Victim said between 6 p.m. Dec. 31 and 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 one or more unknown suspects took an outdoor motion sensor ($20) from her yard and pulled an outdoor light fixture out of the house’s rear wall, causing damage. Victim believes the person responsible for the theft and vandalism.
East Hampton: Responded to Elmore Park area around 3:27 p.m. on Jan. 1 regarding vandalism. The complainant said she noticed around 2:45 p.m. that one or more unknown suspects threw eggs at her home sometime during the night. There did not appear to be any visible damage to the residence, but the victim wanted a report taken.
Rivercrest: Responded at 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 2 to a theft complaint on Wasser Cove. The victim said that sometime between 10 p.m. on Jan. 1 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 2 property was stolen from his driveway. Items taken include a Honda four-wheeler ($9,000) with a three-inch-thick rubber guard on the front bumper and a black Carry-On trailer ($1,100) with a toolbox on the front.
Rockyford: Responded at 11:06 a.m. on Jan. 2 to a reported theft at a vacant residence on Beagle Trail. The victim said someone had taken a dishwasher from that house around 10 a.m. on Dec. 17. He also reported another dishwasher being taken from a second vacant property on Beagle Trail on that same day. A cleaning crew were the last to see the dishwashers on Dec. 9.
Bartlett Woods: Responded around 1:05 p.m. on Jan. 2 to a reported burglary on Honeybee Lane. The victim said four items were stolen from the detached garage behind his house between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Jan. 1. The garage was unlocked. Items stolen include a Craftsman circular saw, a Dewalt reciprocating saw, a Craftsman half-inch hammer drill, and a Robin backpack blower.
