Bartlett Police report for June 1-9, 2015

June 1


Frances Wood Drive (motor vehicle theft/ truck)

A Frances Wood Drive resident reported on June 1 that an employee took his GMC work truck from his driveway without authorization.

He said the incident happened between 11:45 p.m. May 31 and 4 a.m. June 1.

The victim said the suspect also stole a .25 caliber chrome and pearl white semi-automatic handgun ($400), 1950 silver Rolex watch ($1,100) and a folding fillet knife ($50) from his father’s truck, which was also parked in the driveway.

Location not specified (burglary)

A Bartlett resident filed a burglary report at police headquarters on June 1.

Someone entered his locked residence between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. May 31 and stole two rifles and one battery charger from an unattached locked garage.

Magnolia Woods (theft from motor vehicle)

A victim reported on June 1 that someone stole her pistol from her vehicle’s glovebox.

She said the theft occurred while the vehicle was parked in front of her Magnolia Woods home, between 2 p.m. May 30 and 2 p.m. May 31.


June 2


Newstone Drive (auto burglary)

A resident on Newstone Drive reported that someone stole a TomTom GPS unit from her truck’s glovebox between 7 p.m. June 1 and 11 a.m. June 2.

Shelby Street (auto burglary)

Someone burglarized a van in the parking lot of Springhill Electric Company (2861 Shelby St.) between midnight May 30 and 9 a.m. June 3, taking $1,196.70 in rolls of wire.

Items stolen included four full roles of 8-gauge wire ($133.55each), two partial rolls of 10-gauge wire ($81.99 each), and four full and six partial rolls of 12-gauge wire ($53.66 each).

Marietta (theft of a trailer)

A resident who lives on Marietta reported on June 3 that someone had stolen a black trailer ($2,200) from the property.

It is a 16-foot tandem-axle trailer with a heavy-duty frame, wood plank flooring and railing made of 2-by-12 boards. One of the railing boards is split.


June 3


Stage Road (traffic and drug violations)

An officer saw a black Pontiac Trans Am run a red light on Stage Road at 9:28 p.m. on June 3.

The violation was at the intersection of Stage and Sycamore View roads, with the car heading westbound on Stage.

At the traffic stop, the officer smelled the strong odor of marijuana on the driver’s side. The officer checked the car’s license plate number with dispatch, who advised it had been reported stolen out of Memphis.

The officer detained the suspect until the vehicle identification number (VIN) could be verified and confirmed with the Memphis Police Depart-ment.

A probable cause search on the vehicle uncovered a clear small plastic baggie of marijuana in the center console.
The vehicle was towed and the suspect was placed into custody.


June 4


Bartlett Corporate Cove East (theft)

An employee at Herbi-Systems (7551 Bartlett Corporate Cove East) reported on June 4 that the license plate was missing from his personal vehicle, a 2006 GMC Sierra pickup.

A co-worker alerted him to the missing tag at 4 p.m. The man arrived at work at noon but is not sure if the tag was in place at that time.


June 5


Autumn Hill (auto burglary)

A man reported on June 5 that someone stole multiple items valued at about $315 from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in his driveway.

Items stolen included a silver analog watch ($50), black iPod Nano ($100), brown leather wallet ($20), Tennessee driver’s license, cash ($125) and First Tennessee Visa debit card.

The thefts occurred between midnight and 6:30 a.m. June 5.

Blackwell (burglary)

A Blackwell resident reported on June 5 that his Xbox ($300) was missing when he arrived home around 11 a.m.

His mother was at the home until about 9:30 a.m., when she went to the store.

The complainant said all doors were locked when he arrived home. The responding officers did not observe any signs of forced entry.


June 6


Ackerman Ave. (theft from yard)

A witness on the 5700 block of Ackerman Avenue reported seeing someone jump a neighbor’s fence and take a chainsaw on June 6.

She said a late-model GM truck stopped on the street around 11:15 a.m. The truck was white, with an extended cab and four doors, and it was carrying a piece of Ditch Witch equipment.

Two male blacks and one male Hispanic exited the truck, wearing orange T-shirtsand carrying rakes and a blower. The suspects set the tools down by the truck and walked between the houses.

The witness said one of the black men hopped one property’s fence and then returned with a chainsaw. The men got back in the truck and sat around for a minute before driving off in an unknown direction.

The victim said no one was supposed to be on his property and that his Craftsman chainsaw ($300) and its case were missing.


June 8


Charity Glen Drive (theft of an a/c unit)

A real estate agent reported on June 8 that someone took one of two Gibson air conditioning (a/c) units from the backyard of a Charity Glen Drive home. The approximate date of the theft was June 5.

The responding officer saw that the connections to the unit had been cut from the wall.

North Brother Boulevard (disturbance/ theft from vehicle)

Two friends reported picking up a black man who waved them down near Wolfchase Honda (2981 North Germantown Road) on June 8.

He told them someone had just run over his leg with a car and he needed to call someone for help. They gave him a ride to North Brother Boulevard where he said he worked.

He said he was going to go use the phone, but as he exited the car, he grabbed a purse lying on the back floorboard. He fled northeast into an open field towar Ellis Road.

He was described as being about 6 feet tall, weighing around 155 pounds, and wearing an orange shirt, white baseball hat, khaki shorts and blue Nike shoes.


June 9


Wolf Springs Drive (vandalism)

A man reported that someone vandalized his Jeep Liberty on Wolf Springs Drive between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. June 9.

His windshield ($300) was broken from what appeared to be a small BB-sized hole.

Christoval (burglary)

Someone broke into and burglarized a home on Christoval between 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. June 9.
The complainant said he unlocked the front door and noticed several items had been disturbed.

The responding officer secured and cleared the scene. The office also noticed a flat-screen TV sitting on the living room floor and saw a stone block that had been thrown through a rear living room window.

Items stolen included an Xbox 360, Xbox 1, laptop, jewelry, Glock pistol and miscellaneous other items.
