The Bartlett Police Department reported the following incidents for Aug. 18-24. (Reports for the week of Aug. 11-17 were not provided.)
Editor’s note: All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of more detailed BPD reports.
Aug. 18
- St. Elmo (burglary): Responded around 9:17 a.m. Aug. 18 to St. Elmo on a burglary complaint. The victim said someone cut the latch and padlock off the shed behind his home between 10 p.m. Aug. 17 and 6 a.m. Aug. 18. A Poulan chainsaw ($100) was stolen.
Aug. 19
- Davies Manor (burglary of a vehicle): Responded around 7:57 a.m. Aug. 19 to a home on Davies Manor regarding the burglary of a vehicle. The complainant said someone stole a Generac generator/welder, a Milwaukee tool kit, and a Milwaukee right hand drill from the bed of his unlocked truck in the driveway. A plastic GPS/cell phone holder was also stolen from the cab.
- Goforth Way (vandalism): Responded at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 19 to Goforth Way regarding vandalism. The complainant said someone damaged the irrigation pump and pump house ($600) at the lake behind his home sometime between Aug. 16 and 9:30 a.m. Aug. 19. The officer saw that the pump house’s roof was split lengthwise, the electrical circuit box was toppled, and a pipe leading from the pump was damaged.
Aug. 20
- Ruskin (suspicious circumstances): Responded around 10:55 a.m. Aug. 20 to Ruskin regarding suspicious circumstances. The complainant said someone knocked on her front door around 3 a.m. that day. She looked out of the window and saw a black man in a black tank top drive away in a large “lifted up” red truck. Later that day, she opened the door to more knocks, and a man to shoved the door into her forehead and right cheek, causing redness and swelling. The suspect ran off in an unknown direction when she forced the door closed and locked it. He was a thin black man about 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a black top.
Aug. 22
- Steven Franklin (theft from a motor vehicle): Responded at 8:23 a.m. Aug. 22 to Steven Franklin regarding a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim said someone stole an iPad charger and two bottles of prescription medicine (hydrocodone and cyclobenzaprine) from his vehicle, left unlocked in the driveway. The theft occurred between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 21 and 7 a.m. Aug. 22.
- U.S. 64 (theft of vehicle parts/accessories): Responded at 10:53 a.m. Aug. 22 to Walmart (8400 U.S. 64) regarding a theft of vehicle parts/accessories. The victim said someone removed a center cap off the rims to her 2011 Cadillac Escalade while she was in the store between 10:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. that day.
Aug. 23
- Bartlett Boulevard (possible burglary): Responded around 9:37 a.m. Aug. 23 to a business on the 2800 block of Bartlett Boulevard regarding a possible burglary. The front glass door was broken, and someone had entered the business. The responding officer saw two metal filing cabinets that had been opened and rummaged through. A metal tire tool was also on the floor behind one of the work stations. The complainant/owner said a Samsung BluRay player was stolen, along with an envelope of about $100 in cash. The officer reviewed the security video, and the matter remains under investigation.
- Green Cedar (theft): Responded around 12:37 p.m. Aug. 23 to Green Cedar regarding a theft. The complainant had pulled items from his garage onto his yard while he was cleaning the space, and he stopped to run an errand at his wife’s request. He closed the garage and left around 10:50 a.m. When he returned around 11:35 a.m., he discovered that the following items were missing: An LG flat-screen TV, GE black microwave, white Admiral window air conditioning unit, Toro multi-purpose weed trimmer, Toro self-propelled lawn mower, Brishell carpet shampooer, black-and-red 24-speed mountain bike, two wooden stools, Nike golf clubs and white Magic Chef freezer.
- St. Elmo (burglary): Responded around 11:55 a.m. Aug. 23 to St. Elmo regarding a burglary. The victim said he found that his Stihl Easy Stard handheld gas-powered blower ($169.95) was missing from his unlocked backyard shed.
Aug. 24
- U.S. 64 (auto burglary): Responded around 9:09 p.m. Aug. 24 to Longhorn Steakhouse (8324 U.S. 64) regarding an auto burglary complaint. The victim said someone had burglarized his vehicle between 2 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. that night while it was parked at the restaurant. Someone tried to pry out the factory radio system, damaging the framing and the radio ($350) and also stolen money from the vehicle’s interior cabin.
