Bartlett High names top 2 seniors for 2014

He Jung Yoo has earned the honor of being Bartlett High School’s valedictorian for the Class of 2014. She currently holds a 4.51 grade point average (GPA), consistently challenging herself with honors and Advanced placement coursework. She earned a 34 on the ACT.

Yoo’s academic achievements have earned her memberships into Beta Club, National Honor Society, and the 30+ Club. She was also chosen for the 2012 Governor’s School of Emerging Technologies. In addition to her academic record, she is also involved around Bartlett High School. She is a two-year member of Key Club, currently acting as vice-president, and also serves as treasurer of EarthWatch. She is president of Responsible, Organized, Scholarly, Educated Students (R.O.S.E.S.) and has also been involved with the Spanish Club and last year’s Prom Committee.

Yoo was named to Youth Leadership Bartlett and has volunteered with Shelby Farms, the Bartlett Library, the St. Jude Marathon, and Brides Against Breast Cancer. She plans to major in engineering.

Patrick Heng will be Bartlett High School’s salutatorian for the Class of 2014. He currently holds a 4.45 grade point average (GPA) and earned a 31 on the ACT.

Heng strives for an academic challenge, consistently excelling in his honors and advanced placement coursework. He is a member of Beta Club and National Honor Society and has been chosen to represent Bartlett at various math and science exam competitions. Patrick is a three-year member of the Bartlett Ambassadors and the Latin Club. He is president of the Key Club and EarthWatch, as well as vice-president for Responsible, Organized, Scholarly, Educated Students (R.O.S.E.S.). He is also the Knowledge Bowl team’s secretary.

He frequently volunteers around the community, giving his time to groups such as Lichterman Nature Center, IndiaFest, Colorvibe Run, Shelby Farms Starry Nights, and the Bartlett Library. Heng will attend Brown University to major in pre-medicine.
