During their April 7 meeting at the Bartlett Public Library, Lions Club President Darrell Kellum named Lion Brooks Evans as the organization’s Lion of the Year for 2015-16.

The Bartlett Lions Club chooses their Lion of the year based on criteria such as services rendered to the club, services rendered to the community outside of Lionism and services rendered at the district level.

Evans met and exceeded all the criteria set forth for this honor.

Evans, 77, is originally from Elk Garden, West Va., and he has lived in Bartlett with his wife Cheryl since 2003.

The Bartlett Lions Club meets on the first and Third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Bartlett Public Library, 5884 Stage Road, Memphis.
