Bartlett appointed new leaders in the Public Works Department and conducted other city business at the March 27 city board meeting.
Mayor A. Keith McDonald appointed Mike Adams as director and Matt Crenshaw as assistant director in Public Works, effective July 1. Adams, previously the assistant director, will replace retiring director Bill Yearwood.
In other business, the city board:
- Learned that the Arbor Day Foundation named Bartlett as a 2017 Tree City USA
- Recognized the 2017 employees of the year. They are Lisa Ernest, senior finance analyst; Kevin Smith, fire lieutenant; John White, police officer; Travis Sutto, driver II for the Water/Wastewater Division of Public Works; and Donna Keel, manager of duty at Singleton Community Center. - Approved permits for the following events: 5th annual Running of the Rams 5K Run fundraiser, which will be 4-10 p.m. May 11; Appling Middle School Spring Fling, which will be 3-7 p.m. April 21; St. Ann Catholic Church Philippine Fest/Crawfish Festival, which will be 8 a.m.-10 p.m. at the church on April 7; Ellendale Baptist Church Easter Eggstravaganza, which was held 2-3:30 p.m. at the church on March 31.
- Passed a routine resolution to request the unclaimed balance of accounts remitted to the state treasurer under the Unclaimed Property Act.
