Following a pair of baseball blowouts, Bartlett high school coach Phil Clark had to wonder how his team would react when faced with a traditionally tough opponent. A walk-off seventh inning single by Keegan Floyd to top Dyer County 4-3 answered that question as the Panthers rebounded from back-to-back losses with a three game sweep last week.
“That was a solid high school baseball game,” Clark said of his team’s 12th win in 14 outings.
Jackson South got his second win of the season in two innings of shut-out relief of Bo Caviness and Bartlett battled back from one-run deficits.
Tied at three going into the bottom of the seventh, Floyd drove home Wesley Johnson from second, his third hit and second RBI in four trips to the plate.
Dyer County took an early 1-0 lead in the first with Bartlett answering one inning later. Connor Anderson stole second after his single and Joseph Leatherwood drove him home to even the contest.
Jonathon Pervis homered in the fifth for Dyer County for a 3-1 cushion but Parker Wilson doubled in the bottom of the fourth and scored on Wesley Johnson’s single. Johnson, who stole second, scored on Floyd’s first RBI of the evening.

Wesley Johnson hit his seventh home run of the young season and Bartlett took advantage of 11 walks in three innings to maul Millington Wednesday night.
“Every time we go out there we play really good,” Clark said of his team’s tradition of topping the Trojans.
Collin Davis got his first win on the mound and Johnson’s two hits outscored the entire opposition for the Panther’s 11th win on the year.

With a tournament schedule coming up on the weekend, Germantown’s coaches opted to get his pitchers ready one inning at a time. Unfortunately for the Red Devils, Bartlett’s batters were ready for all of the innings as the Panther’s pounded last year’s state tournament participants 11-0 Tuesday.
“I think they were trying to give all of their pitchers some work heading into the tournament,” Coach Clark surmised of the school that once was his home. “They just couldn’t get out of the first.”
Admitting he gets a little revved up himself to face the program he led to state and national prominence, Clark’s crew planted 11 runs in the first and never looked back.
Chase Claudio and Dustin Ammons met Red Devil starter Chris Powell with a pair of singles and Wesley Johnson followed with his sixth home run of the season.
Bartlett still wasn’t through. Jacob Elliott singled, Bryan Cruise doubled, Parker Wilson singled and a hit by pitch, two walks and an error later and Bartlett was up 8-0 after one.
The Panthers added three more in the fourth to close out their rival and go home early.
Wilson led Bartlett with three hits in as many trips to the plate and Jacob Elliot got his second win of the season striking out a pair while giving up four hits.
