mighty-mommies-1bChildren’s book author and Bartlett resident Donald Jacobsen has released his third book, titled, “Mighty Mommies and Their Amazing Jobs.” This book explains science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers in a format that is easy to read for toddlers and young school-aged children. Illustrations by British artist Graham Evans are rendered in eye-catching and contrasting colors to draw the attention of young eyes.

Jacobsen said that he wrote the book mostly to disrupt stereotypes about gender roles in careers.

“I have two little girls,” he said, “and I wanted to give them a beautiful and educational book that explained to them that they could do absolutely anything that their heart desires.”

The book depicts women in traditionally male-dominated job roles – e.g., scientists, pilots and even firefighters. Although the book highlights women in these roles, the book is appropriate for both girls and boys. The book will be distributed by Amazon in both paperback and eBook format.

Jacobsen’s previous children’s books include “My Daddy, the Amazing Nurse” and “Andy the Alligator’s Almanac of Alphabet Animals.” He is a graduate of the University of Memphis and Western Governors University, with master’s degrees in nursing and healthcare management.
