Licensed business people from Bartlett, Arlington, Lakeland and Memphis have faced substantial fines recently, according to the March report from the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance’s Division of Regulatory Boards.
- Yolander King of Bartlett, in the cosmetology and barber category, had her license suspended on March 31 for failure to comply with one or more statutes (T.C.A. §56-1-109, §56-1-312, or T.C.A. § 36-5-706).
- Luxury Nails of Arlington received a $2,500 civil penalty in the cosmetology and barber category on Jan. 17 for unlicensed activity, a sanitary violation and offering services not authorized by the shop’s license.
- Cleotries A. Ruben of Lakeland, in the Real Estate Commission category, had her license revoked and received a $9,000 civil penalty plus an assessment of $1,310 in costs on Jan. 19 on multiple violations. They included willful misrepresentation, flagrant misrepresentation, failing to account, receiving undisclosed commission, unauthorized practice of law, improper and fraudulent dealing, failing to remit trust money, and escrow violation.
- James Wright CPA LLC of Memphis received a $3,200 civil penalty in the accountancy category on March 31 for failure to enroll in peer review.
- Torriun Bolton, doing business as T. Bolton Painting and Drywall in Memphis, received a $1,000 civil penalty for unlicensed activity on Feb. 9.
- Wells Remodeling of Memphis received a $4,000 civil penalty for exceeding monetary limit.
- Ronald L. Deberry of Memphis, in the cosmetology and barber category, received a $500 civil penalty plus an assessment of $578.33 in costs on March 20 for unlicensed activity.
- Charlie L Knight of Memphis, in the cosmetology and barber category, received a $550 civil penalty plus an assessment of $100 in costs on Feb. 21 for having an unlicensed shop and an expired personal license.
- Headz Up of Memphis, in the cosmetology and barber category, received a $550 civil penalty plus an assessment for $100 in costs on Feb. 21 for having an unlicensed shop and an expired personal license.
- Burks Starcuts of Memphis received a $3,000 civil penalty in the cosmetology and barber category on Aug. 15, 2016, for unlicensed activity, having no manager present, having bottles of alcohol in the shop, and having unclean work stations and tools.
- Margaret Watkins of Memphis received a $1,000 civil penalty in the cosmetology and barber category on March 7 for unlicensed activity.
- Simon Nguyen of Memphis received a $250 civil penalty in the cosmetology and barber category on March 14 for sanitation violations and for allowing employees to practice without wearing identification tags.
- Kadi’s African Hair Braiding of Memphis received a $4,000 civil penalty in the cosmetology and barber category on Dec. 1, 2016, for having an unlicensed shop and no personal license.
- Carly Cao, doing business as Vian’s Nails in Memphis, received a $4,000 civil penalty in the cosmetology and barber category on Dec. 22, 2016, for unlicensed activity, a sanitation violation and having no manager present.
- I-Style Barber & Beauty Salon in Memphis received a $1,000 civil penalty in the cosmetology and barber category on March 7 for the owner/manager allowing unlicensed activity.
- Mariam Hair Braiding of Memphis received a $1,000 civil penalty plus an assessment for $200 in costs on Dec. 7, 2016, for an unlicensed shop and an unlicensed individual.
- Braids By Tiara of Memphis received a $2,000 civil penalty in the cosmetology and barber category on March 9 for an unlicensed shop and an unlicensed individual.
- Worley Auto Parts Inc. in Memphis received a $4,000 civil penalty on March 13 for unlicensed activity.
- Aric Northern of Memphis received a $1,000 civil penalty on Feb. 28 in the Real Estate Commission category for failure to remit trust money. Northern also was required to complete four hours of continuing education in professional liability.
- Spencer Nathan Shadrach of Memphis received a $1,000 civil penalty in the Real Estate Commission category on March 20.
