The Bartlett city board took another step toward designating the Barteau-Dickey House at 2943 Sycamore View Road as a historic landmark at the June 27 meeting. It was the second reading of the ordinance, and the public hearing is set for July 11.
Terry Emerick, Bartlett director of planning and economic development, explained previously at the June 13 meeting that the building has undergone an interior renovation that made it possible to extend the life of the house. The first reading of the ordinance passed unanimously and without comment at the early June meeting.
Vice Mayor Young was absent for the June 27 meeting.
In other business, the board approved:
- Acceptance of bids for FY2018’s transportation projects (all of which are already budgeted). They include concrete replacement, Mark Weeks Construction; traffic signal maintenance, Shelby Electric; and asphalt pavement, Standard Construction.
- Acceptance of the lowest bid for renovating Deermont Park’s restrooms. The bid went to Terry Bell Construction LLC. in the amount of $269,777, plus a contingency amount of $15,000, for a total project cost of $284,777. The board also awarded the project’s construction management to Ross Witt PLLC. in the amount of $6,250. The total cost of this project will be $291,027.00.
- Acceptance of the bid for lawn treatment services for Bartlett’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Bartlett City Schools district. The bid went to Herbi-Systems for a total cost of $143,841.44. Parks maintenance will cost $87,350.94, and the schools’ portion will cost $56,490.50.
- Renewal of the $37,364.90 annual maintenance agreement with Data Driven for the Watson Field Reporting Suite used by the Bartlett Police Department.
- Acceptance of the lowest bid for a 2017 Ford Explorer for the Police Department. The bid went to AutoNational at a cost of $27,024.72.
- The city’s yearly contribution of $20,000 to the Shelby County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility.
- Renewal of a lease contract renewal with Vertical Bridge for use of land (5205 Brief Road) and tower used for the city’s two-way public radio communication system. Monthly lease payments are $1,442, for total of $17,304 during FY2018.
- A special event permit for Memphis Runners Track Club Road Race. It will be 5:30-9:30 a.m. Aug. 13 and Aug. 27 at W.J. Freeman Park.
- Amendment of the temporary employment services contract approved on Oct. 14, 2016. The only differences are a change to the vendor’s name and a clarification of the bid pricing sheet. The pricing on the original bid did not change, only a clarification of overtime rate billing for both regular and overtime pay.
- Approval of the insurance quotes required for FY2018. This includes property, general liability, auto, worker’s compensation and other insurance renewals.
- The first reading of Ordinance 17-06. This ordinance amends city code to increase the purchasing limits as set by Tennessee state statute. The public hearing will be set for July 25.
- Amendment of the FY2017 School Education Capital Project Fund.
- Approval of the treasurer’s report for May.
