The Bartlett city board took another step toward designating the Barteau-Dickey House at 2943 Sycamore View Road as a historic landmark at the June 27 meeting. It was the second reading of the ordinance, and the public hearing is set for July 11.

Terry Emerick, Bartlett director of planning and economic development, explained previously at the June 13 meeting that the building has undergone an interior renovation that made it possible to extend the life of the house. The first reading of the ordinance passed unanimously and without comment at the early June meeting.

Vice Mayor Young was absent for the June 27 meeting.

In other business, the board approved:

  • Acceptance of bids for FY2018’s transportation projects (all of which are already budgeted). They include concrete replacement, Mark Weeks Construction; traffic signal maintenance, Shelby Electric; and asphalt pavement, Standard Construction.
  • Acceptance of the lowest bid for renovating Deermont Park’s restrooms. The bid went to Terry Bell Construction LLC. in the amount of $269,777, plus a contingency amount of $15,000, for a total project cost of $284,777.
