AWA banquet, auction to aid law students set for Jan. 21

AWA-logoThe 36th annual banquet and silent auction hosted by the Association for Women Attorneys (AWA) will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 21. The venue is the Tower Center at Clark Tower (5100 Poplar Ave., Suite 3300, Memphis).

The event supports scholarships at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. The admission price also has been lowered to help law students better afford to attend.

Admission is $60 for AWA members, $70 for non-members and $30 for law students. Tables are $480 for eight and $600 for 10.

This year’s honoree will be Maureen T. Holland, owner of Holland and Associates PC. She is the 27th recipient of the Marion Griffin-Frances Loring Award for outstanding achievement in the legal profession.

The event includes:

  • The induction of 2016 AWA Board officers and committee chairs.
  • The passing of the AWA presidential gavel from Keating Lowery, attorney with Lawrence & Russell, PLC, to Lisa Gill, attorney with Butler Sevier Hinsley & Reid, PLLC.
  • The awarding of UM law scholarships.

While guests enjoy the cocktail hour and browse silent auction items, Carson and Pool will provide music for the event.
