Upcoming events include a silent auction and a five percent day at Whole Foods Market (5014 Poplar Ave, Memphis), according to John Holtzman, director of finance for Transformations. All the funds will go toward an estimated $50,000 in projects at the center, from painting walls to replacing or adding furnishings, replacing carpeting/flooring, upgrading the lobby and more.

It’s been the small businesses as well as the big ones who have supported Transformations with generous donations, Holtzman said. “I’ve gone in and asked them for help, and they have opened their arms and opened their doors.”

Party & Auction

The center’s fourth Fabulous Fall Silent Auction will be at Playhouse on the Square (66 South Cooper St., Memphis) at 7 p.m. Nov. 15. The event will have a party atmosphere with a DJ and light food. Admission is $15, and it includes the first beverage, Holtzman said. Remaining drinks are available at the cash bar.

The auction is anticipated to raise about $5,000 and is expected to cover two of the center’s necessary projects.

Auction donations may still be made through Monday, Nov. 10, Holtzman said.

Tickets are $15 and available via Transformations at 6761 Stage Road in Bartlett or at the door the day of the event. For more information, call the center at (901) 231-1931.

5 Percent Day

Quarterly, Whole Foods in Memphis gives 5 percent of one day’s pre-tax income to a designated charity. When Transform-ations was the recipient in 2010, the check was for more than $3,700, which at the time was the largest 5 Percent Day for that Whole Foods location.

This year, Transform-ations will be the charity recipient again on Nov. 11, so Holtzman encourages the public to do their shopping at Whole Foods that day to support Transformations.
