Memorial Day events, closures are announced

  • mem-day-observancesThe American Legion Post 249 invites citizens to join them at Veterans Park in Bartlett on Memorial Day, May 25. There will be a program beginning at 10 a.m. as they remember all those who have given their life while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Bartlett city offices and the Bartlett Library will be closed on Monday for the holiday. Trash pick-up will be delayed one day, with Monday pickup on Tuesday and Friday pick-up on Saturday.
    The Bartlett Recreation Center will be open 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • The Lakeland City Hall and Senior Center will also be closed on Monday for the holiday. Trash pickup will be delayed by one day.
  • All of Arlington’s town buildings will be closed Monday too in observance of Memorial Day. Trash pickup will be delayed by one day.

Lakeland marks 3rd anniversary of senior center

Lakeland Senior CenterThe Lakeland Senior Center will celebrate the third anniversary of its opening one day early this year. Participants are invited to attend the celebration from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. May 22 at the center. RSVP to (901) 746-8195.

The center is on the grounds of I.H. Managerial Park, at 4527 Canada Road (next to the I.H. Clubhouse).

Use Yale Road? Watch out for repairs until July

"Road Work Ahead" signBartlett drivers are reminded of some road repairs underway. Those who have driven on Yale Road lately have noticed that the city is in the process of patching, repairing and paving parts of the road. The process will continue through July. When this is completed, the entire Yale Road will get asphalt.

In their announcement about the repairs, city administrators added, “Thank you for your patience during this paving project! After the project is completed we will have a smoother Yale Road for traffic.”
