Young families find Mid-South cities appealing
Consumer finance site NerdWallet.com has released the third edition of its report, “Best Places for Young Families in Tennessee,” and we have some winners.
Out of 98 municipalities, the top ranked included Atoka, second place; Lakeland, third place; Arlington, 13th place; Collierville, 24th place; and Bartlett, 39th place.
The analysis covered data from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, including factors like education quality and home affordability. It also used Neighborhood Scout’s crime risk score to gauge safety.

Recycle that dried-up old Christmas tree
Don’t forget when all the Christmas presents are unwrapped, the boxes are stacked in the recycling bin and your Christmas tree is getting too crisp: Shelby County offers recycling.
Take your tree, wreaths, garlands & greenery to the Christmas tree recycling center in the south parking lot of the Shelby County Showplace Arena (105 Germantown Road).
Last year, more than 40 tons of Christmas greenery were collected and turned into mulch. Mulch will be available to the public in the spring.
