Municipal offices close to mark Good Friday
Local municipalities have announced closings in honor of Good Friday on April 3 and Easter Sunday on April 5.
- Bartlett: City offices, the library and the animal Shelter will be closed on Friday, but the Bartlett Recreaction Center will be open for regular hours. Trash pick-up won’t be affected on Friday. The library and BRC will be closed on Easter Sunday.
- Arlington: All town buildings will be closed on Friday.
- Lakeland: City Hall and the Lakeland Senior Center will be closed on Friday.
Wear blue in honor of Autism Awareness Day
April 2 is World Autism Awareness day, and in support, Mid-South residents are asked to wear blue to raise awareness.
April is also Autism Awareness Month.

Easter egg hunts set for Saturday
- Easter celebration: Heartsong Church in Cordova is hosting Easter Hollow, a free Easter Celebration for the whole family, 2-5 p.m. April 4. The event is open to the public and will include carnival games, agiant inflatable slide, professional face painting, concessions, and more. Baileys Arms Animal Rescue of Lakeland will be on site with puppies and adult dogs ready for adoption. For details about this organization, see baileysarms.org. - Egg hunting: Shelby Farms Park is hosting an Eco EGG-stravaganza the same day. Children can go on egg hunts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 4. Admission is $5 per child.
