The 4th Annual Oktoberfest in Arlington is coming Saturday, Sept. 26, from noon until 6 p.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church (6108 Chester Street in Arlington).
The event will feature German food, entertainment, games for the children and craft booths.
The chairman of the Oktoberfest in Arlington, Lee Buchschacher, announced that the net profits will go to the Arlington American Legion Post.
Buchschacher explained, “We are trying to create an event in Arlington where everyone can come and have fun and celebrate their German heritage.”
The menu at the Oktoberfest in Arlington will include schnitzel, bratwurst, hot dogs, sauerkraut, German-style potato salad, red cabbage and strudel.
“Everyone asks me why, is the Oktoberfest in September?” Buchschacher said, “In Munich, Germany, they hold Oktoberfest from September 15 to the first weekend in October because it gets too cold any later on.”
Entertainment is a big part of the Oktoberfest. There will be German music, a disc jockey show, Rick Montana, star of the Rick Montana Show which aired on Fox 13 Memphis is returning from Alabama to perform a variety of country and rock music.
Tim Rowland will do an Elvis Tribute Show and other entertainment is planned.
Parking and admission is free.
Buchschacher added, “Food will be sold as an ‘All You Can Eat’ Buffett for $12.00 for adults or $5.00 for children 10 and under. You can buy food ala carte such as the schnitzel, bratwurst or hot dog plates.”
There are games for the whole family including horseshoes, a Frisbee toss as well as craft booths.
