Kroger turned in the application Nov. 16 to build a bigger grocery store than their existing location in Arlington. The new 123,000 facility will be located at the southeast corner of Milton Wilson Boulevard and Airline Road.
Currently, there are no other commercial developments on the property.
The company plans to begin construction in the spring of 2016, with a target opening date in the summer of 2017.
The project is currently in the early planning stages. Heather Sparkes, the town planner, said the company has only submitted a site plan application to the Arlington Planning Commission at this point.
Sparkes said it’s the town’s understanding that Kroger will not operate in both locations, so the existing Kroger store at 11635 U.S. 70, Arlington, will close when the new one opens.
