Arlington schools update ACS district policies on Aug. 25

Arlington-logo-revisedThe Arlington school board approved changes to five school policies at the Aug. 25 meeting and had the first reading for two more policy edits.

The board conducts periodic reviews of the school district’s policies to ensure they remain up to date, and these edits are minor, according to Superintendent of Education Tammy Mason.

The policies of Arlington Community Schools (ACS) that were amended at the meeting include:

  • School and system websites, Policy 4.407
  • Procedure for granting tenure, Policy 5.117
  • Separation practices for non-tenured teacher, Policy 5.201
  • Student assignments, Policy 6.205
  • Medicines, health care and emergency allergy response plan, Policy 6.405

Read the full text of these policies on the district’s website page for agendas and minutes; select the “supporting documents” link for the July 28, 2015, meeting. (That date is when the policy edits were first on the agenda and read at a public board meeting.) The link is http://bit.ly/ACS-July282015.

The other two policies had their first reading on Aug. 25 and should be on the agenda for the next school board meeting. They include:

  • Method of election of officers, Policy 1.200
  • Purchasing, Policy 2.805

Editor’s note: Those policies are not currently online at the ACS website because they are not yet fully approved.
