Retired firefighter Mark Crawford of Arlington is facing a tough challenge: “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge.”

Each week, Steve Austin brings eight athletes to his Broken Skull Ranch. Contestants go head-to-head until the last person standing earns the right to take on the “Skullbuster” obstacle course for a chance to win $10,000.

In the newest episode debuting at 7 p.m. Central time on April 17, Austin invites eight first responders to battle it out in Trench Warfare, High & Dry, and Hard Labor before one competitor gets his shot at the Skullbuster.

Crawford, 54, is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 200 lbs. He believes that having worked as a lieutenant firefighter has prepared him for everything.

He may be the oldest competitor, but he’s in the gym six days. He was on a tug of war team that traveled the world competing.

If he wins the $10,000, he said he plans on using it to fix a swing on his front porch for his wife.
