Arlington-seal-small-200pxThose who wish to run for office in the upcoming Arlington Municipal Election must submit their petitions by noon today, June 15, the qualifying deadline.

It’s still not too late to pick up a petition to run for office.

Linda Phillips, administrator of elections, said, “There’s still time to get the necessary signatures and qualify.”

Each potential candidate must complete a petition that has the signatures of 25 voters registered in Arlington, and he or she must submit by the deadline to become a candidate in the election.

Positions 2, 4, 5 and 6 on the Board of Aldermen and School Board positions 1, 3 and 5 are on the ballot.

As of Monday morning, 24 petitions had been issued, and seven of those had been submitted. People who returned the seven petitions were all running unopposed at press time.

Early voting in the City of Arlington Municipal Election begins Sept. 1 and continues through Sept. 16. Election day is Sept. 21.

The deadline for qualified candidates to withdraw their petitions is noon June 22.
