A group of 29 Bartlett teens joined talented singers from other schools to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City this month. Their trip was May 2-6, and Choir Director Nick Wammack.

The Appling Middle School Choir members practiced their nine songs twice weekly (almost double the usual choir workload), had multiple performances to polish their repertoire and got enthusiastic support from their community for the trip.
Before the choir left Bartlett, Wammack said, “It’s been exciting. There’s been lots of buzz in the community.”
More than 40 adult chaperones accompanied the choir on their trip to New York. In the Big Apple, they spent a total of 10 hours rehearsing for their concert with Dr. Russell Robinson at the Park Central Hotel Ballroom. Their dress rehearsal and concert took place at Carnegie Hall.
When not in rehearsal, the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade choir members took advantage of the trip to enjoy many sight-seeing opportunities. They rode the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, visited Battery Park, and took a tour of the 9/11 Memorial Museum. The choir’s families and and choir members also spent time sight-seeing in small groups. In addition to seeing the sights, they said they enjoyed the New York cuisine at Buca di Beppo, Planet Hollywood, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and many more local restaurants and street vendors.
