Two Bartlett residents have run afoul of the law in Memphis recently.
Teresa Sumpter, 48, was arrested Sunday on two counts of forgery, six counts of identity theft and two counts of property theft worth $60,000 or more.
She allegedly stole business checks, forged a signature on them and opened three credit cards in the name of her now former employer, attorney Jerry Schatz.
In a separate case, Donna Hastings, 53, allegedly argued with a man at a Memphis pub on Sept. 16 about a refund for some contract work. She reportedly attacked him, twisted off his prosthetic leg, let him fall from the barstool and unsuccessfully tried to leave with the limb. The leg was ruined and the man injured in his fall.
Hastings was arrested and charged with robbery and felony vandalism, and she has since bonded out.
