The Bartlett Police Department will receive a new law enforcement dog and get instructor certified at the same time.
The Bartlett Board of Aldermen approved $18,244 for the department to obtain a new dog and have an officer obtain certification to train other dog handlers fro Cobra Canine in Chesapeake, VA. One of Bartlett’s dogs is being forced into retirement after suffering from an injured back. The city has a regiment of three dogs to assist in police work.
Two ordinances were passed on a third reading dealing with an amended flood zone map and animal confinement and purchases in the police department and city sanitation were approved.
Five in-car video cameras will be purchased from Watch Guard Digital for $25,650. The city also approved a rear loader refuse truck at a cost of $137,567; a side loading refuse truck at a cost of $215,812 and a knuckle boom loader truck for $119,525.
In new business the board learned of engineering’s plans to request more than $29 million for proposed road construction and repair in Bartlett. The requests are made to the Metropolitan Planning Organization with no guarantee how man, if any, of the projects will be funded.
