Agricenter International in Memphis is inviting students to participate in the “2014 Ag Day” Poster Contest by the Feb. 28 deadline.
Students throughout Shelby County Schools, private schools, and home-school groups in grades three through eight are eligible to enter. Posters can be a maximum of 11 by 14 inches and should be done in markers, paint, pencil, or crayon; no 3-D artwork. Contrasting and bright colors are recommended.
The purpose of the contest is to promote the role and importance of agriculture. Students compete in three divisions:
- Third-fourth grades
- Fifth-sixth grades
- Seventh-eighth grades
The first-place winners of each division are awarded $100; the second-place winners , $50; and honorable mentions, $25. The first-place winners’ teachers also receive $50.
