Agricenter sets Feb. 28 deadline for poster entries

Agricenter logoAgricenter International in Memphis is inviting students to participate in the “2014 Ag Day” Poster Contest by the Feb. 28 deadline.

Students throughout Shelby County Schools, private schools, and home-school groups in grades three through eight are eligible to enter. Posters can be a maximum of 11 by 14 inches and should be done in markers, paint, pencil, or crayon; no 3-D artwork. Contrasting and bright colors are recommended.

The purpose of the contest is to promote the role and importance of agriculture. Students compete in three divisions:

  • Third-fourth grades
  • Fifth-sixth grades
  • Seventh-eighth grades

The first-place winners of each division are awarded $100; the second-place winners , $50; and honorable mentions, $25. The first-place winners’ teachers also receive $50.
