Former Bolton High School teacher indicted on statutory rape

A former teacher at Bolton High School has been indicted on aggravated statutory rape and other charges stemming from his alleged involvement with a student last year, Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich announced on Monday.

Latorrence Bivens, 31, is being held in the Shelby County Jail on $75,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Criminal Court on Dec. 15.

An investigation showed that Bivens was involved in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student from January through April of last year at his apartment in Memphis.

Bivens was indicted on one count of aggravated statutory rape and three counts each of statutory rape by an authority figure and sexual battery by an authority figure.
