5K on Oct. 18 to raise funds for abused women
Sign up now for the 8th annual Ashley Scott Memorial 5K, which begins at 8 a.m. Oct. 18 at Bartlett Baptist Church, 3465 Kirby Whitten Road.
The event is in honor of a former Bolton High School teacher, whose husband was convicted of second-degree murder in her 2006 death by beating.
All proceeds will go to Abused Women’s Services in Memphis and Shelby County.
Preregistration is $15 for students ages 18 and younger, $20 for adults 19 and older, and $19 for members of the Memphis Runners Track Club (MRTC). Payment on race day will be $25.

More ‘best of’ honors accrue for Bartlett
Bartlett ranked No. 6 in the top 10 of “Best Cities to Live in Tennessee,” published at CreditDonkey.com, a credit card comparison website that publishes analyses.
Factors included a low risk of violent crime, low commute times, high average income, the number of residents with college degrees and the number of restaurants per inhabitant. Collierville came in at No. 4.
