The Bartlett Police Department reported the following incidents for July 28-Aug. 3. (Editor’s note: All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of more detailed BPD reports.)
July 28
- A.E. Beaty Drive: Responded on July 28 to A.E. Beaty Drive regarding a theft of motor vehicle parts. The complainant said someone stole the catalytic converter ($3,000) off a GMC box truck between 5 p.m. July 25 and around 8 a.m. on July 28. The truck was parked behind the business, backed up to the dock door.
July 29
- Olivia Hill Road: Responded at 4:14 p.m. July 29 to Olivia Hill Road regarding a vandalism complaint. The victim said someone threw eggshells at his home’s front door and sprayed his mailbox with black paint sometime between the evening of July 26 and the morning of July 29.
- North Lake Oaks Drive: Responded at 5:30 p.m. on July 29 to North Lake Oaks Drive regarding a theft from motor vehicle. The victim said someone stole a handful of change ($5) from his unlocked vehicle between 9 p.m. July 23 and 6 a.m. July 24. The vehicle was parked in his driveway, and there was no vehicular damage.
- Beagle Run and Rabbit Chase: Responded to a complainant at the jail lobby (3730 Appling Road) at 6:27 p.m. on July 29 regarding a robbery. The complainant said someone robbed her son of his iPhone 5C and his Nike Air Jordan 11 shoes around 9 p.m. on July 27. The son said a female suspect contacted him via Instagram, commenting on a photo of the shoes and offering to buy them. The two began text messaging and eventually agreed to meet at the corner of Beagle Run and Rabbit Chase. At the meeting, the female was looking at the shoes and the victim was looking down at his phone when an unknown male suspect in a hoodie ran by and snatched the iPhone from his hands. The female then grabbed the shoes, and both suspects fled in an older model light tan four-door SUV of unknown make/model. The victim did not see the license plate number. The victim said he didn’t have any contact information about the suspects. The mother said her son originally stated his phone was stolen on Sunday from the community pool but later changed his story.
Aug. 1
- Court Street: Responded at 8:23 a.m. on Aug. 1 to Court Street regarding vandalism. The victim said someone uprooted three hydrangea plants ($15) from his front garden area along the sidewalk between 8 p.m. July 31 and 8:15 a.m. Aug. 1. The suspect then left the plants on site.
- Stage Road: Responded around 11:48 a.m. on Aug. 1 to the Kroger parking lot (5995 Stage Road) regarding the theft of a vehicle’s tag. The victim said someone stole her Tennessee tag from her 1998 Ford between 8 p.m. July 31 and 11:45 a.m. Aug. 1.
- Stage Road: Responded around 4:27 p.m. on Aug. 1 to the 5700 block of Stage Road regarding the theft of a license plate from a parking lot. The victim said someone stole her Tennessee license plate between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 1.
Aug. 2
- Virgil Road: Responded at 8:14 a.m. Aug. 2 to Virgil Road regarding a theft. The victim said someone damaged his van’s left back window ($100), stole tools ($6,215) and broke a garage window ($20) between 6 a.m. Aug. 1 and 8 a.m. Aug. 2. The white Ford van was parked in his driveway, and the suspect entered the garage and home during the theft.
- Sycamore View Road: Responded at 7:33 p.m. Aug. 2 to Sycamore View Road regarding a residential burglary. The victim said she was washing clothes in the laundry room just off the kitchen around 7:20 p.m., when an unknown white man broke the glass window in the rear exterior door. He tried to unlock the door by reaching in with his left arm, and she screamed and punched his arm until he retreated. He was about 6 feet tall with short dark brown hair and a mustache, and he wore a yellow T-shirt. The victim said she got a very clear view of the man’s face before he escaped through the back yard. No items were stolen, and the only damage was the door’s window ($75).
Aug. 3
- Bandye Lane: Responded at 12:27 p.m. on Aug. 3 to Bandye Lane regarding an auto burglary. The victim said someone entered his unlocked Nissan and Nissan Pathfinder in his open garage between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 2 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 3, stealing multiple items.
