The Bartlett Police Department reported the following activities for July 21-27. Editor’s note: All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty, and values are estimated for thefts and damages. These are brief summaries of more detailed reports.

July 21

  • Bright Star Lane (burglary): Responded around 4:05 a.m. July 21 to Bright Star Lane regarding a burglary complaint. The victim said he was in bed when he heard his back gate open and then heard noises in his detached backyard shed around 4:05 a.m. He didn’t see anyone in the unlocked shed, but he walked outside and saw footprints through his side yard. He noticed his shed door was open and his orange and white Stihl backpack blower ($220) was missing.
  • U.S. 64 (burglary from motor vehicle): Responded at 8:35 p.m. July 21 to Abuelo’s (8274 U.S. 64) regarding a burglary from a motor vehicle. The victim said she parked her Jeep Grand Cherokee on the restaurant’s east side around 4 p.m. When she returned at 8:30 p.m., the passenger side rear window was broken. Items stolen included a brown leather purse ($20), a Very Bradley wallet ($35), a Bancorpsouth debit and credit card, about $300 cash, a Vera Bradley backpack ($50), a pair of Vans shoes ($50), two iPhone chargers ($50) and her Tennessee driver’s license.

July 22

  • Rivercrest Lane (vandalism): Responded at 7:55 a.m. on July 22 to Rivercrest Elementary School (4875 Rivercrest Lane) regarding a vandalism complaint. The plant supervisor said that he was checking school grounds around 6:30 a.m. when he noticed that someone had damaged several wooden fence planks that enclose the trash dumpster in the rear of the building. He also noticed that several empty beer cans had been tossed around the area.

July 23

  • Luther Road (auto burglary): Responded around 8:50 a.m. on July 23 to Luther Road regarding an auto burglary. The victim said someone stole yard maintenance equipment from his truck between 5:30 p.m. July 22 and 8 a.m. July 23. Items stolen included an orange Husqvarna backpack blower ($250) and a red Toro weed trimmer with a Ryobi attachment ($180), as well as a black wallet ($20) from the center console.

July 24

  • Kirby Whitten Road (commercial alarm): Responded at 5:08 a.m. on July 24 to a commercial alarm at Dryve Cleaners Discount (3051 Kirby Whitten). The responding officer saw the back door hinges and frame were broken ($200), but the door still could not be opened because of an interior lock. The drive-through’s sliding door also was ajar. Security camera footage showed a black male wearing a long-sleeved white hoodie and dark pants trying to open the sliding door, but he could only budge it a couple of inches. Officers didn’t find fingerprints on either door.
  • Memphis Arlington Road (business burglary): Responded around 7:10 a.m. July 24 to Fantastic Sam’s (6490 Memphis Arlington Road) regarding a business burglary. An employee said the back rear door was ajar when he came to work around 6:45 a.m. The office door’s lock was broken, and the frame had a split several feet long. Paperwork was scattered across the office and front desk near the registers. Items stolen included the store’s opening money ($200), quarters from the register ($2.75) and a security system monitor.

July 25

  • Halstead Street (burglary): Responded around 5:34 p.m. July 25 to Halstead Street regarding a burglary. The victim said he found a window screen torn from the west bedroom window when he returned home, but an interior window lock prevented entry. Officers found one fingerprint on the glass.
  • Stage Road (theft from motor vehicle): Responded around 8:56 p.m. July 25 to the 6400 block of Stage Road regarding a theft from a motor vehicle. The complainant said he and a female friend arrived at the tennis courts around 7:50 p.m. She put her purse under the front passenger seat and locked the door. When they returned, the passenger side’s front window was broken and the purse was gone.
