The WWII veterans of Bartlett, Tn., and I’m sure I can speak for all the veterans of the Mid-South, would be honored and greatly appreciative if you would use your press to express and convey our greatest thanks and deepest gratitude to all those wonderful people that worked so hard and contributed so much to put on the show, “Sentimental Journey-Remembering WWII America”, held at the First Assembly Memphis church, on Saturday, September 15 for our benefit. This awesome show took us old veterans in our thoughts and memories back to the 40’s and made new memories that will last a lifetime.
A special thank you is in order to Diane Hight and Perk Perkins for coming up with the idea for the show. How do you thank or reward them for all the long hours of work, planning and effort that they took, making sure that every detail, on stage, behind stage, even handing out medals, seeing to our transportation and parking was taken care of for us? How do you find the words to thank all of those unsung, behind the scenes, heroines and heroes, that entertain us, sell the tickets, arrange the props, sweep the floors and thousands of other things that it takes to make this show such a success. And last but not least are the financial contributors and the folks that attended the show to make us old veterans happy. You are true blue Americans and Patriots. We love and salute all of you.
We old veterans are so proud and honored that you, the American people and the Forever Young Organization, call and consider us the “greatest generation.” However, we say, “if our country is to remain free, safe and strong, this generation now and for generations to come must be our greatest generation. We believe that this generation and our children are our hope, our future an dour salvation, indeed the salvation of the world.
