U.S. flagMemorial Day weekend is a relaxing time of family fun but its primary purpose is to remember the sacrifices of men and women who served and died in the U.S. Armed Forces.

To honor their memories, the public is invited to attend a ceremony Saturday morning at the Memphis National Cemetery at 3568 Townes Ave., Memphis. See our related story in this issue for more details.

Bartlett Movies in the Park continue Friday

movies-in-park-SQUAREishBartlett’s popular Movies in the Park summer program will bring “Ever After,” an updated Cinderella fairy tale, to W.J. Freeman Park this Friday. Bring your blanket or chairs and settle in for a pleasant family night under the stars.

Bring a picnic basket or enjoy the wares from food trucks that arrive at 7 p.m., and the free film showing will start at 8 p.m.
