Bartlett Station Farmers Market opens Saturday

Bartlett Station Farmers MarketBrace yourself: Fresh fruits and vegetables are coming. This Saturday is the season-opener for the 2014 Bartlett Station Farmers Market.

Local residents can enjoy browsing through an array of locally grown, sustainable, fresh produce and value-added products. The market will be near the tennis courts at 2629 Bartlett Boulevard within W.J. Freeman Park.

The market will be open from 7 a.m. until noon on Saturdays, starting this weekend and continuing through Sept. 27. Visitors can enjoy live music and a concessions area for relaxing and visiting with friends.

Earlier this year, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture recognized the market for excellence. At the 2014 Tennessee Horticultural Expo and Conference, Market Manager Kim Dyer accepted first-place awards for T-shirt design, brochure design and social media campaign.

The annual competition is a state-wide contest for publically owned farmers markets. Dyer also accepted second place in the website design category.

First opened in 2011, the market gives local farmers and producers a direct-marketing opportunity. It also increases community spirit by offering residents a gathering spot and an information resource on the varied retail products/services available in Bartlett Station.
