Project opens doors for aspiring directors

Stage Door ProductionsMemphis, Tenn. — Stage Door Productions (SDP) has announced The Director’s Choice Project, a program designed to nurture and support creativity by giving directors the chance to bring their dream projects to life on stage in the Spring 2015 season.

Every director has a special vision for one show they’ve always wanted to direct,” said SDP co-founder and executive director, Lindsay Mitchell. “We welcome anyone from anywhere who has passion for a production to apply!”

Whether it’s a traditional show re-imagined or a new script in search of a venue for its world premiere, Stage Door is accepting proposals. The Advisory Board will review and consider all submissions. The top three finalists will be called in for a personal interview/pitch presentation meeting. Artistic director Brandon Kelly will then contact the first-place winner for further information regarding scheduling and contract agreements.

Directors who wish to apply must submit the following in a Microsoft Word document:

  • Director’s resume
  • Show Title
  • Concept for the overall production
  • Detailed explanation of your personal philosophy and process as a director
  • Budget for the project

Submit all proposals and further inquiries to admin@stagedoorpmemphis.org.

Director’s Choice proposals for the spring of 2015 must be received by July 31.
