A total of 75 arrests were reported over the week of April 14-20, 2014. This total includes misdemeanors and traffic arrests. All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Arrests are public information. (Click photo to enlarge.)
Bartlett Police Department reported the following activities for April 14-20:
April 14
Police headquarters: Responded to walk-in complaint on April 14 of aggravated burglary. The complainant said someone stole a Troy-Bilt weed trimmer and a 2.5-gallon gasoline can from his attached garage sometime between 8 a.m. April 10 and 8 a.m. April 12.
Sleepy Hollow: Responded at 10:53 a.m. on April 14 to a reported bicycle theft at Sleepy Hollow. The complainant said someone stole his son’s bicycle from the carport between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on April 14. The bike is a green-and-black Next brand BMX-style bicycle. He said the only identifying factor about the bike is that it has a silver front rim and a black back rim.
Appling: Responded around 11 a.m. on April 14 to the 3700 block of Appling regarding a vandalism complaint. The victim reported vandalism at his new residence under construction on Canebreak. He noticed on April 11 that someone had tried to remove two Goodman air conditioning units from their foundation on the side of the residence. Both units were bolted to the foundation and were badly damaged. The suspect(s) also removed the breakers from the fuse box.
April 15
Tamara Drive: Responded around 9 a.m. on April 15 to Tamara Drive regarding a vandalism complaint. The victim said she found on April 10 that someone had spray painted various unintelligible words and symbols on the brick retaining wall at the east side of her property.
Memphis-Arlington: Responded around 2:02 p.m. on April 15 to the 7400 block of Memphis-Arlington regarding a reported theft. The complainant said that his 16-foot trailer holding 30 eight-foot landscape timbers was stolen from his front yard sometime between 6 p.m. April 15 and 2 p.m. April 15. He said the trailer is red with white rims and has a partially rotted wooden floor.
Short Grass: Responded around 10 p.m. on April 15 to Short Grass regarding a reported burglary. While the officer was en route, dispatch advised that the complainant was following a vehicle, possible a red or maroon ’90s model Ford Mustang with a single headlight out, which he saw leaving his cover shortly after discovering his home’s break-in.The officer met the complainant at his home, where he said he was coming home when he noticed that the spare bedroom’s light was on, and he did not recall turning it on. When he opened the garage door and entered his home, he immediately saw that his rear door was open. He said he left the house, got back into his vehicle and waited at the end of his cove, where he saw two black men enter and leave in the red/maroon Mustang that had been parked three houses west of his address.The vehicle had one light out but the complainant could not recall on which side. Windows were tinted dark, and the car might have been a convertible as its roof was black.The officer saw that the home’s rear door was heavily damaged where it had been forced open. He also saw several footprints outlined in dirt immediately inside the area around the rear door. The storm door was still in the locked position with an extended deadbolt, but it was open. There were pry marks on the outside of the storm door where it appeared to have been pried open.The officer noticed a flat-screen LCD TV (later identified as the complainant’s bedroom TV) on the floor next to the rear door, alongside the Kinect (a device used with the Xbox 360 gaming system that was missing from the living room). The matter is under investigation.
April 16
North Griffin Stone Cove: Responded at 5:42 p.m. on April 16 to a reported shed break-in at North Griffin Stone Cove. The victim said he went to the bank at 8 a.m. and got back at 11 a.m., but he did not immediately notice anything was wrong. He went outside to do yard work around 11:45 a.m. and noticed that his shed door was open. The lock had been cut off and was on the ground, and his blower and weed trimmer were missing.
April 17
Freeman Park: Responded on April 17 to Freeman Park, 2629 Bartlett Boulevard, regarding a reported auto burglary. The victim said she had found the passenger side window of her car broken. Her purse was stolen from under a blanket on the passenger-side floorboard. A park patron, who wished to remain anonymous, said he arrived at the park around 8:40 a.m. and did not remember seeing the window broken at that time.
April 18
Elmore Road: Responded around 7:40 a.m. on April 18 to Elmore Road regarding a reported burglary. The victim said that around 7:15 that morning he discovered the padlock was cut off from the side door of his back shed. The only things missing were his red five-gallon gas can and his Stihl chainsaw.
Appling Road: Responded around 6:06 p.m. on April 18 to the 3700 block of Appling Road regarding a theft complaint. The victim said several items of lawn equipment had been stolen from his shed at Shadowhill: a Craftsman blower, a Husqvarna weed trimmer, a full gas can, a Craftsman hedge trimmer, three orange outdoor extension cords, and a Craftsman circular saw. The officer noticed that there was a similar shed theft nearby, at N. Griffin Cove, between 7 a.m. and noon on April 16.
